Let's try to work this out: For the medical to be taking place in Germany of all places suggests it's from a team that are playing there this week, during international fixtures week. Germany are playing Spain on Wednesday, then Switzerland on Saturday, but Switzerland are playing away to Ukraine first, so it's unlikely to be a Swiss player. We know we are interested in Castagne, but he was called up to the Belgium squad who are playing away to Denmark, though not till Saturday. But then why do a medical in Frankfurt if you are training in Denmark? With Covid regulations it's highly unlikely. We just sold our starting left back, so it makes sense we'd be in for another one, even if we sign Castagne. So let's look at Left-backs in the Germany / Spain squad: Robin Goosens Jose Gaya Sergio Regulion The first two are definitely possible as Goosens we've been linked with, and Valencia are selling almost all of their players. A loan move for Regulion wouldn't be that outlandish either. But what if it's not a LB but someone else? We are probably after a new CB or winger. So that could mean one of: Niklas Stark Jonathan Tah Diego Llorente Unai Nunez Some of these players we've been linked with before, so I could definitely see one of these players being signed. How about wingers? IMO all of the wingers at that game are out of our league and we couldn't get them... would love to be proved wrong, but attackers for those countries are understandably very good! It could also be an Eintracht Frankfurt player, but most of their good players are out on international duty... It could also be a team that is stationed in Germany (either domestic or international) but playing their fixtures elsewhere, but not too sure about who that could be. That would make sense, but Denmark is also on the restriction free list, and Belgium are playing there on Saturday. So why not have the medical in Denmark? BUT, Belgium is not on the exempt list, so if they were traveling from Belgium to Denmark before playing the game, then a medical in a third country sounds right.
