He was getting treatment in Qatar by the England physios and he was training towards the end. He could have even played.
whst baffles me is he’s gone awol upon his return. London knee Specialist says he’s fine. So what is it then? Is he using Rogers get out card if I’m not feeling right in the head I’m not gonna play? FFS we really are up sheizer creek. Can’t stand all the nonsense!

If England declared him unfit at the start of the world cup when we thought he was okay, surely that means our medical team could well be incompetent. It would explain why we've had so many injuries recently!!

Madders deserves the benefit of the doubt.

However, if there is truth in this then we need to cash it in large. Needs to be going for big money. He’s very marketable and he’s been on the top of his game for nearly a year.

Looks like Tielemans will walk in the summer for free, so Maddison is probably our only big money player now, that we can sell for a silly amount to a club like Newcastle. We really need him for the rest of the season though, so it's a tough one. Sell now for silly money with a new attacking midfielder arriving or hope he gets fit and plays a big part in keeping us up?

Can’t blame anyone for leaving this shit show, some of us fans can’t be arsed with it either, I’m just watching on from a distance not really arsed at the moment, that’s team Top and Brendan that’s done that, making a mockery of Vichai’s dream and what he achieved. Top should be ashamed of himself.

It is strange how Rodgers doesn't even give a timescale and sort of just brushes off the question. Really made me think there was more to it the last time he was asked. Isn't like it's a major injury.

The surprising thing is, the specialist said his knee was ok several weeks ago and still there's no timeframe for him to return. Who knows, could be taking a leaf out of Mahrez's playbook and be waiting at EMA, ready for a move.😁

Romano is almost never wrong. :/

Yeah, they're going to sign him in the summer. We're not going to allow him to leave before then. Relax.

If what @GingerrrFoxis saying is true, then whilst extremely disappointing, it isn’t a massive shock given what has happened since his return from the World Cup. The injury at best has been a bit of a mystery and the ongoing inability to confirm if and when he will return does lead to rumour etc.

I just hope if it is true, we are busy bringing in our targets before rinsing Newcastle for as much as we possibly can.

If it is true it makes you wonder what the **** BR is playing at hiding behind false stories. Show some strength like De Zerbi at Brighton and call the player and his agent out.

To sell him now and try to replace in the Winter Window would really stupid business.... wait hang on  - our Transfer policy has been fantastic of late, plus we do need to let his contract run down first.

If this happens, we are full speed ahead to the Championship.

It could be that Rodgers is past caring and kind of using it as an excuse for our form/results.

maybe too cynical of me, but looking at the lack of passion from him, wouldn’t surprise me and Maddison is taking advantage. Hoping I’m wrong and it’s just a knee injury that he can’t shake.

And again if that’s the case it comes full circle to why is he still in charge?

Strange and concerning times at the club, as you say I hope it is a knee injury but everything seems off at the moment.

You do get the impression that some players perhaps don’t want to play for Mr R, but where is Evans he has disappeared?

I just feel like if one player has earned us not sharing rumour after rumour about him it's Madders.

Always honest in interviews, always gives 100% when he plays. Genuinely seems a nice down to earth lad who loves his family.

They go through the same shit as you and me, being super rich doesn't change that, anything could be happening, could be a family issue, personal, and yeah it could be to do with a transfer.

Whatever it is though can we just leave him to it? Last few pages in here are just ridiculous.

I don't for a second think he'd refuse to play because of a transfer, if anything we'd be protecting him due to his sale value.

Agree. It will cost more money getting relegated to the championship.

His contract terminates in summer ‘24 I think, so now might be the best time to maximise his value.

Given we have 7 players out of contract this summer, and 9 next summer, the size of the rebuilding project is enormous and requires significant funding.

It would not be surprising if the club look to massively reduce the wage bill so extending contracts may not be straightforward either.

Interesting times ahead as the club goes through a transformation.

He clearly doesn't want to sign a new deal otherwise it would have happened by now. He is fast approaching the last year of his deal and there is no way the club as poorly as it is run would have let this happen willingly.

Despite being our best player - We need to move him on. We can't afford another Soyuncu/Tielemans situation where a valuable asset ends up leaving for nothing.
