Wtf is Middle Eastern money doing to mainstream sport?

This isn’t anti-Middle East, and Western sport was hardly pure beforehand. But there’s a point where money stops enhancing sport and starts distorting it.

The Man City/Premier League debacle. Huge boxing bouts in Riyadh with virtually no atmosphere. The LIV Golf circus. F1 increasingly following the biggest cheque, and so on.

Sport needs investment. But.

Sport has chased the most money available for a long time and the most money available is often in that part of the world.

Bbc sport app appears to have changed the side of the screen the menu button is on. Most minor inconvenience as muscle memory takes me to where it always has been

Looks like there is some traction building around Andy Burnham's involvement with Man City and their ownership, watch this space.

You can’t possibly be suggesting the mayor of Manchester had involvement with a significant infrastructure investors in Manchester can you?

Don Danbury is a legend, shame you can’t really find it anywhere. Dan Clark kinda disappeared too sadly.

Can you believe Berlin want to bid for the 2036 Olympics, 100 years following the definitely not fascist 1936 Olympics that preceded ww2 and one of the worst genocides ever. Hilarious.

We’ve had the Olympics in Beijing.

World cups in Russia, Qatar and soon to be Saudi.

Bit of a non-issue this.

Given the rise of the AfD, you might not be be able to say that by the time the games come around.

Has anyone listened to the Overlap podcast? Seems to be taking over football media yet appears to be the same talking heads broadly discussing the same generic topics.

I massively avoid those types of podcasts. Same sort of guests all the time and they never actually say anything substantial

I quite like Keane and Wright and I think Carragher is probably the best pundit in the country but I don't want to listen to any more Gary Neville than I have to lol

There are drones that will listen to anything. The volume of (no pun intended) overlapping podcasts is staggering

- it’s all so banal.

Undr The Cosh — Jon Parkin, Chris Brown — ex-pros including a huge range of Championship, League One, League Two and non-league players

Stick to Football — Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Ian Wright, Jill Scott

The Rest Is Football — Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer, Micah Richards

No Tippy Tappy Football — Sam Allardyce, Kevin Nolan — regular ex-player and manager guests

The Overlap / Overlap Daily — Gary Neville, Jamie Redknapp, Joe Hart, Ashley Young, Steven Gerrard, Tim Sherwood, Duncan Ferguson, Mark Crossley

FIVE — Rio Ferdinand, Joel Beya — regular ex-player and current-player guests

The Footballer’s Football Podcast — Ben Foster — former players and current players

The Greatest Game — Jamie Carragher — interviews with former/current players and managers

Footballers Unfiltered — Jackson Irvine — current and former professional players

High Performance — Jake Humphrey, Damian Hughes — regular interviews with ex-players, managers and coaches

Anyone else ever wonder what’s the closest an ancestor has come to dying?

Some relative of mine dies from Dysentery and I’m never born.

It’s a slow day as you can tell lol

There's enough regular football talk on TV and radio every day, without adding podcasts into the list.

The slugs in my dept are b1tching about the woman in our dept who never speaks. As in she has not spoken (at least not in ear shot of me) since she joined on June 2024. Shows how toxic/bored some people are, what could you possibly have to b1tch about!?!? How could she have upset you?!!?

If anything sounds like the ideal colleague. No idol chit chat, no forced interest in each others lives. I’m envious tbh

They’re on Dailymotion at about 360p haha. They may or not be available on certain devices too.

I saw him do stand up once, he was good.

Our first house that we bought in 1980 for £14 000, has just gone on the market for £265 000.

Inflation over that period should equate a rise to £65 000.

£200 000 above inflation!

The youngsters don't stand a chance.

Quite enjoy I had trials once, as it's not the same guests that go from one podcast to another, it's basically a lower league/non league podcast and half the folk I haven't heard of but it makes a difference from well known names not actually saying a lot.
