Why is he bothered about playing in the champions league for a team that won’t get very far anyway? Surely might as well stay here and play in the premier league.

Maybe playing in the PL for 8 years and winning it, he's sort of see it as been there done that.

1 season in the CL, probably just want to experience it again, I don't know we have seen Villarreal, Ajax, Monaco, Roma and Lyon make the semi's in in the last 5 years.

Depend on what offers he gets.

I have been open and screamed for him to F.uck off at times when emotion takes over (I'm talking about incidents the Tottenham game - I know it wasn't directly his fault before it's pointed out), but when you look at the highs and lows with Kasper directly involved the highs massively outweigh the lows. And I for one will be absolutely gutted when he decides to move on.

In all honesty, Kasper is one of the highest paid GK's in the world. I could understand him wanting CL football, but I am not sure he will have many options for it outside some of the mid-level European league entries, that won't get past the group stages.

I was just commenting on the regular use of the world "relaxed" when speaking about contract situations. It means absolutely nothing, and Rodgers might as well use the world "yellow" or "air-dangled" for all the information it gives.

The Club don't conduct their contract negotiations in public.  never have, never will.

That save from Gotze at 0-0. Wow. Make no mistake, not many keepers make that save.

He has his flaws but he is peerless when it comes to shot stopping.

I think his shocking distribution is a much bigger problem than his inability to command the area on set pieces.

It's tough with Kasper, because he is indeed a great shot stopper and well below-average in distribution and aerial supremacy.  We can say "he wants CL" but the problem is for the big clubs, having a keeper who can start attacks and effectively function as an 11th field player is more important than stopping shots.  How many shots do Man City or Bayern or PSG give up, typically?  He's like N'didi in that his best attributes are more valuable to us than the power clubs and his weaknesses even more of a problem for them.

Shocking distribution is a myth. He does have the odd game when he's off the boil and hits it out of play several times, I'll give you that.

Generally he's fine. No keeper should have a 100% pass completion rate. You wouldn't expect it from a centre mid, so why a keeper?

His biggest limitation is coming for set pieces. If he was good at that, he'd be one of the best in the world and we'd not have held onto him.

Agree to disagree.  I think his distribution is among the worst in the league among 1st string keepers.

Hell of a shot-stopper though.

He just has two or three games a season where he seems to forget how to kick a ball, so it sticks out lol

Which, granted, is annoying!

Could someone explain to me the point of putting all the players on one side and him kicking it towards them and half the time out of play?

The best goalkeeper we have ever had, others who played for us may have gone on to have better careers, but for us, he’s the greatest and I wish him all the best in whatever he does. I’d prefer it if he didn’t move to another PL club, but would be happy for him in whatever he chooses to do. On and off the field and absolute legend of the club.

I am old enough to have watched world cup winner  Gordon Banks so would dispute that claim !

This has come up a lot in recent months.

There’s all sort of debate to be had about who is the better keeper, in a vacuum, between Kasper, Shilton, Banks.

But Kasper has been the greatest keeper for Leicester of all time

I’ve spoke to my dad and a few others who have seen both Banks and Shilton, they’ve all said that Kasper is up there with them. Like Banks and Shilton they said he makes match winning saves game after game, the points he’s saved/won us.

At the heart of a very nervous defence on corners and set pieces. His howler today another example. I just can’t see his obvious weaknesses being addressed. Top shot stopper but weak in too many areas this season. Sadly exploited by all PL managers. If City has ambition Kasper needs some real competition next season.

Not in the same class. Great shot stopper undoubtedly. But doesn't dominate the box as he should, distribution is iffy too often and prone to silly errors as we saw today.

Agreed he is a great stopper. But he’s too unorthodox which means he makes too many mistakes . Shilton was the best technical keeper I’ve ever seen. My dad said Banks was better so he must have been very special.

Schmeichel is a quality goalkeeper. What club out there has two quality goalkeepers where one is happy to be back-up?

Also these people who think we should get rid... where do we find a goalkeeper that has all the qualities of Schmeichel and who is very good at what Schmeichel is poor at? Your realise that means we're looking for the perfect GK? Where do we get one of those for under 50m? If they even exist. Got bigger priorities to splash our cash on before looking to upgrade GK

Just look at how Man City’s 2nd goalkeeper got on this weekend…

World class shot stopper.

League 2 at commanding his area on his crosses.

Did Shilton ever save a penalty? He just used to fall over to his left or right

ANOTHER horrendous mistake today. He’s making far too many too regularly.

unfortunately I think the time has come. New keeper needed.

I think you’re thinking of Italia 90 and he was past his best by then - his debut was 1966 and he was fantastic in the late 70s early 80s - it was a one man show in the 1980 European Cup Final for that shower up the road - always thought it horrendously ironic that a lad from Braunny was so pivotal for them - Kasper is very good but not in the same league
