McDonald's plan new drive-thru near Leicester City and Tigers stadium

If you don't like the city shitty food here's an alternative coming soon.

Although a drive thru when a match is on sounds like a recipe for disaster.

McDonalds is planning to open a new drive-thru restaurant near Leicester City’s King Power Stadium.

The two-storey restaurant is proposed on a car park off Almond Road a short walk from the football ground at Freemen’s Common.

Plans lodged with Leicester City Council say the new restaurant, also close to Leicester Tiger's Welford Road stadium, Morrisons and the Odeon cinema and the Counting House pub, will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Boom!

Say what you like about McDonald's but they know what their customers want.

Cracking news!

Edit: Also glad to hear they're planning to close Tiger's Welford Road stadium. Good riddance!

Assume it's this car park?

I imagine there might be some wrangling about arrangements for the drive-thru on matchdays. Anyone who sees the Fosse Park or Meridian one will know it gets mental at peak times. Doesn't it also get quite snakey and logjammed with Morros at peak times (mainly on exit?)

Feel like a right nimby typing that, tbf. Assume it'll go ahead, and will be incredibly popular as it captures student/tigers/city/leics college/cinema crowd. Money spinner!

Surely they'd have to close the drive-thru for an hour or so either side of the match?

This would do nicely for the walk back to the train station after an evening kick-off though.

Why don't they sell the breakfast stuff all day? Sausage and egg McMuffin pisses all over any burger they sell

This! I feel like they could use that sausage patty to create a pretty incredible daytime burger too!

Spot on. The double quarter pounder is the only one which comes close.

Decent, 65 jobs for the city in the current climate is nothing to be sniffed at.

Fair point I guess, but 65 decent jobs would be better.

The very definition of Mcjobs.

Are they new or just taken from some other business near there that then goes but? There's only so much food that can be sold.

I don't know but it seems possible.

Very Foxestalk answers to the proposition of jobs for young people in a depression.

Double Big Mac is decent, sausage and egg McMuffins are trash far too greasy, the over priced burger vans outside the ground are gonna loose a lot of money!

Dunno, queues will be horrific on a match day. Can see them still doing plenty of trade.

Not really against it as I don't use them but just questioning if it's actual new jobs.

Good.

As above, more jobs for people, plus there's fvck all around the ground anyway so fans can grab something quick on way/way back to ground like at some other grounds.

Always thought freemans common would be a perfect location for a McDonald's from a business point of view. It's on the inner ring road, close to the college, close to the industrial estate and close to city and tigers. The thing will be rammed!!!

What isn't a decent job about McDonalds?

Potential prospects for those wanting to become a manager and a lot of their staff are inexperienced so it's their first taste of the real world. The pay isn't that bad either, but it's never going to be good for a job which requires minimal training and no qualifications.

I worked in one for six years. I don't think you'll find anywhere else in this country that is better at promoting young people to management roles, regardless of what qualifications they left school with.

It's no longer a job to be turning your nose up at, manager roles for young people to move up a ladder is a dream for some.

Don't know why some have to be so negative lol
