Fulham H Post Match Thread

Recommended Posts

Top 5 things that happened in the last 10

minutes of that match (we scored as well):

5) Iheanacho falling over himself when presented with a tap in.

4) Maddison wasting good possession just after we scored with a shot that missed the target by about 20 metres.

3) Justin attempting a 40 yard volley with an xG of about 0.00000000001.

2) Evans’ great ball into his own six yard area.

1) Schmeichel up for a corner, Fuchs barely reaches the midriff of the first man. Ball goes out for a throw in, Tielemans plays a pass that was about 50% undercooked back to Fuchs. Mitrovic waddles down the pitch pursued by a luminous Schmeichel.

Absolute shambles, we looked like a poor professional side for 85 minutes and then an amateur one for the last 10. Thank goodness Fulham wasted so much time to save us from ourselves.

If it wasn't for the clumsy penalty and the post/crossbar denying us we probably would have undeservedly won that, but would have come away nonetheless with serious concerns about our management, player commitment and The Blades on Sunday.

All the players he picked are capable of playing better, the passing from almost everyone was appalling, even Vardy couldn't control the ball, no matter what formation he chose and it was probably the wrong one if the players are simply crap then don't expect to come away with a win.

5 defenders against fulham. joke setup regardless.

Players who can't pass the ball being paid £50k+ a week is a joke.

Just because the team selection was wrong is not justification for ignoring the embarrassing quality offered up by the players.

Please can Schmeichel be forbidden from going up for corners? He never gets near to the ball, and there's always a real risk of an embarrassing goal being conceded.

Not really his fault if the kick bounces in front of the first man.

Apart from that time at Anfield that Benteke missed an empty and open goal.

ah yes, Kasper, why the fook didn't you make a run to the edge of box - that's clearly where the corner taker was told to put it

Defended the team against the excessive criticism they took after the Liverpool game but theyl be none of that today. Abysmal first half with Justin's run for the free kick which led to hitting the post was the single highlight. Fulham whilst not as bad as say Bournemouth at the end of last season were nothing to write home about but were still the better side right up to me turning the game off with 15 to go! Utter utter shit. Hopefully Rodgers will see sense and ditch this 5 at the back rubbish against Sheff Utd and Brighton. Gotta pray that our injured players are back asap as our backups Justin aside are starting to look really poor.

He probably thought it was one of our corners and went to get the cross.:P

I hope these words do come back to bite me on the backside but this group of players with this manager won't win anything of note. They lack the mental capacity to dig in deep when it's needed which is a real shame because they're probably some of the most talented players we've ever had and one of the most capable squads in the league but they need to realise that talent only gets you so far.

There's too many passengers in this team when they're not at it. Maddison and Evans of late look like they're already on the bus with Ole at the wheel.

Brendan has to take a lot of responsibility for tonight's performance. He set us up way too defensive against a very poor team and was far too slow in making the changes. He needed to change tact immediately after they scored the second but was too cautious. I felt for Vardy today, looked very isolated against a side that you'd expect him to have a field day against.

This isn't a call for Pearson to return but can you imagine his reaction to performance like that!

What frustrates me currently is that our form feels all too predictable. We're either all or nothing, something which is very telling by the lack of draws. We simply don't have the ability to grind out results. Whether that's a tactical or mental failure is hard to say but one way or another it needs addressing.

We are always hearing from the players and BR how he attaches great significance to how the side plays without the ball and how players need to be thinking about the runs they make and moving the oppo about . That performance just stuck the middle finger up to such aspirations . If the players aren’t buying in to BR vision and values maybe they need moving on or BR changes the style of play to something these players buy into because this isn’t working

To play three at the back without proper or effective wing backs seems madness to me. Got away with a result in Braga but looked useless otherwise. How can you go into a game with four in midfield of which three are Justin, Thomas and Mendy?  Brendan being too clever by half again.

This! And when you top off that midfield with 2 CMs as our "wide forwards", the result was inevitable. 5 defenders and 4CMs in a home game v Fulham. In which parallel universe does that make any sense?

Justin in recent times looks like he's the only one that's not read the script, sometimes he's the only one trying to play at a pace and get at the opposition rather than tapping it about.

I love seeing the keeper up at the end of a game.

Just not when it is Leicester City desperate for the goal.

The 3-4-3 system will only work with progressive wing backs. Thomas is still learning the game and plays safe, backwards and sidewards, and that’s understandable. Justin is a decent solid defensive full back, so to rely on those 2 to provide attacking width was never going to work, also Fuchs is now getting exposed.

When we have Ricardo and Castagne back then no problem go back to the 3-4-3 wingback system, but until then I don’t want to see it again !
