I notice a few complaints at media coverage favouring the big name clubs. Maybe these clubs do more to encourage fans living miles away from their club's home  base. I've been a fan of Leicester City since Matt Gillies was manager but now live about 350 miles from Leicester. Many fans particularly in Thailand live thousands of miles away. I watch the club website, read the Forum pretty often, watch us on Match of the Day, and occasionally study the fixture lists. I'm also an OAP with a grumbling licence, fully up to date. and I try to keep the rust off it.

Can I make a plea to improve things for remote fans. I think ,well I hope,  most like me would like to see the latest match video or at least a 20 minute minimum,  highlight summary video, in order we can make some judgement on how the  team and players are performing including the defence. Also the club's up to date summary on how injured players are recovering and when they are likely to be back in action. The club web sites are absolutely hopeless on all this at the moment..

For instance the main website still has as a first item the LCFC match against Watford with a few presumably Roman soldiers watching (could be Celts,= hard to tell) watching. For God's sake get a bit more up to date. Searching for Leicester v AEK brings up a lot of nice still photographs of the match. Very nice .Does the club think we are all under tens printing copies of website  fan photographs to pin up ?. Nothing wrong with that at the appropriate age but most of us have grown out of it. Would fans be happy to see a match where no one moved except to take up the position for the next still photograph. Oh. apologies there is a two minute video of the goals from the AEK match.  The LCFC goals are always welcome but its a little difficult judging how well the team and defenders are playing from a video of a forward completing a tap in. My grandmother , long dead now could have stood in for those players tapping in and in fact a waxwork model of her could be used to pose for the numerous still photographs if we ever move to the still photograph football match . Think of the advantages . No damage from headers for one . I did enjoy Under's volley of course but I've have swoppped at least two of the replays for a few minutes of how the ball got to him ,how we won possession etc.

While I'm at it ,a decent commentator for at least the home match videos would help. When one can attend matches every week its possible to recognise players instantly from the way they move and possibly their lstest haircut but its a bit difficult when the commentator does n't occasionally realise that even football players have names that could be used once in a while to identify  players . Old time commentators didn 't abuse their privilege to constantly give their opinions . They did however typically keep us informed on these lines ...."easy catch for Banks, ....... ball up to McLintock... to Gibson ... beats Oneleg....out to Stringfellow ,,,,,,,,beats Cripplar..... ...good cross....saved by Floppyhands..........Cross onto the rebound .... Goal !!!. Usually now there's a commentator , a relief commentator, and an "expert" all giving their opinions but no facts, such as who is who. The section of play described above would be "I wonder if he could have punched it...yes,or I'd like to have seen him kick it down the channels., a bit less central.......oh, now they've got it out to the channels,,,,,,I wonder if he should n't have backpassed rather than cross it...Oh we've scored  but should n't he have........... etc etc "

Come to think of it even regular season ticket holders barred attendance by Covid might welcome current and better video coverage during lockdown. Surely the club have video for training purposes of at least home matches and I presume there's no commercial reason for not making a 20-30 minute summary version available on the matchday website. The big clubs ,which we are aspiring to be, go to some trouble to ensure they have a large foreign support. Were I from Thailand I might feel a bit aggrieved that money from my countrymen was used to improve a club a few thousand miles away who seemed to go out of their way to make sure I saw little of the team involved playing in their latest match. Maybe someone will tell me that I should constantly pay to ensure I can get video coverage from whatever provider wins the annual billions of pounds auction  to have the video rights for a season. If Youtube or Match of the Day can provide me with typically 8-10 minutes of a match within say half an hour of the match ending , for free, surely the club one supports can do a little better via its website. Currently I'm hoping we draw Rangers in the Uefa league/cup, at least I'll get a chance maybe to support the team, Covid permitting.

Hi Alan, :)

350 miles away? Sounds like you're in Scotland (or Northern France ).

I'm based in Glasgow.  I say this as someone who follows the Jags (to avoid any, err, insinuations) no WAY do I want to draw Rangers.

a) They are seeded, so we can't draw them.  If we draw them on Mo day, something went horribly wrong  :P

b)  I really don't want to give the Orcs my money.

c) For the first time in about a decade  they aren't shit anymore.   Best avoided.

I used to watch and follow the Jags when I lived in Glasgow. I would prefer to avoid the H***s at this stage but beat them later. 😂

I guess I beat you by being and living in Japan........

One good thing is that we have DAZN, so I can watch live matches when it's possible to get up early or stay up late :D

Interesting topic, Alan. I only live 100 miles away in Stockport now so can't compete with you, but I do go back a little bit further  - it must have been 1955 when I went to my first match.

Where your comments really  strike a chord with me is your fourth paragraph about match commentary, especially when it's a radio link only.  I find it infuriating that continuous commentary of what's going on in the match, and identification of players, seems to be the furthest thing from the minds of the commentator.  He occupies so much of the time giving irrelevant historical facts/statistics, joining in with the summarises opinions, or even chatting about things that have nothing to do with the game, to the extent that major incidents, even goals, are missed or only just caught.  Why do these commentators not understand what listeners want to hear?  I wonder whether some radio commentators even understand that listeners can't see the action.

I appreciate the contributions by Matty Elliot and Gerry Taggart, but sometimes they get sucked in by the commentator and make observations that are too long, and intrusive, while play is going on.

I know from previous discussions on here that some listeners are happy with the level of commentary but I like to get enough information to be able to frame a picture of the game and to be able to deduce the shape of the game, players' performances etc.

Rant over.   Like you, I am of an age where I have a licence to be grumpy.  I guess I should send these comments to the club and see what response I get.

with you there. some R5 and talksport commentators like to tell you what they have had for dinner whilst the game is on.

I think the radio Leicester pair are pretty good  though, only a few national comms do it better

Absolutely agree re commentary, it's as if they forget that they are literally the eyes and ears of the listeners! I like to hear comments, views and opinions but there's plenty of time at or just before dead ball situations. People tune in to hear the football and not people that think they're the main attraction.

My pet hate is a goal flash when they say a goal has been scored at (wherever), go over to the reporter who then describes the build up in great detail, the form of the teams coming into the game, why it's so important blah blah when all you want to know is who scored!

Moved out to Chicago in 06’ - close to 4000 miles away but made the odd pre-pandemic game each season. Lost the story of this thread but just thought I would throw that out

9,056 miles :)

Love the BBC Leicester podcasts... Stinger gets on my wick, as well as entertaining me by equal amounts (Piper is fantastic).

The LCFC website is fantastic.

Ironically, I found myself enjoying MORE game coverage of City games the further away from Leicester.

During an expatriate stint in Dubai, I saw EVERY game LIVE on one of BeIN Sports many channels (albeit occasionally the English Language option wouldn't work). In the US, I often can watch most games LIVE on NBC or online. With DVR, I get to rewatch (and micro-analyze lol) the good games.

Our global fan base is still not anywhere near the same level as the so-called Top-4 or Top 6, but I am continually surprised by discovering City fans in so many different places (especially obviously post-2015/16), and the wider our talent base, the wider our "fan" base (albeit  some itinerant and plastic).

3,458 miles in a straight line or 4,362 miles by land transport.

Lucky to gave all Premier League games televised, so I have probably missed less than 5 games since we got promoted (and saw a few while we were in the Championship).

What?.... The official site always comes up with a 20 min highlights video a day or two after the match.

Here's the one from our last league game... (17 mins)

https://www.lcfc.com/tv/1928391/sheffield-united-1-leicester-city-2

Here's the one from our first match against Athens (15 mins)

https://www.lcfc.com/tv/1880742/aek-athens-1-leicester-city-2

We even do it for our U23s and women's team.... Here's highlights from their most recent games

https://www.lcfc.com/tv/1933590/salford-city-3-leicester-city-development-squad-3-56-pens (17 mins)

https://www.lcfc.com/tv/1930713/lcfc-women-3-london-bees-0 (10 mins)

Extended highlights from yesterday's game will be up on the site tomorrow, probably.

Well it would n't be so bad if the 20 minutes was the match play. I like the team sheets bit but there are usually up to another 5 minutes of video before the ball is kicked and then also an excess of replays. I.ve also followed the many videos of taking of the knee and think I've now mastered that, its not that difficult. One replay is almost always useful but 5 ! ! Under's goal was excellent and probably deserved an extra replay. If only all our forward players could finish like Vardy or Under (he seems to be improving all the while and we'll probably get even more when his mate Soyuncu is fit again.  I would like to see a bit more of the highlights from Fofana, Soyuncu, and other defenders when they are back . Maybe I should have been complaining about the video editor but it is hard to evaluate how much Ndidi, Thomas ,Evans,Fofana, Soyuncu etc  are contributing to what is beginning to look like a very good team on the 15 seconds maybe seen of them in a 12-15 minute play summary, even if the total video length is 20 minutes.
