Does not racially undermine the legend Albrighton, while bigging the silliness of the unstoppable momentum of Vardyiinacraapintterviewism

Thank you.

Should we refer to Ricardo or Pereira?

My spelling is normally above adequate. It is  being exposed here.  However, autocorrect keeps trying  to put two rs in  Perejra.

I would like Barnes, with nuance, to be referred to as Barnes ( refer to James Rodriguez for a pronounciatition guide) Harvinho.

That's what I call him! Whenever he does something incredible he transforms into Harvinho :)

It's Riccy P.

He's actually in a WhatsApp group with me and several others and that's his name on there.

So yeah, Riccy P

Getting names right, for me, is important.  I am not always confident.

It's important to me too, especially in a work or social context.

I do a lot of remote work with clients overseas and some of their names are particularly difficult to pronounce, so I have to Google them in advance using this site:

https://www.pronouncenames.com/

But when it comes to footballers who I don't know and have never met, I really don't think it matters...

I don't really care but any reference to Brodgers or B r e n d a or even Rodger's deserves an automatic ban and possibly even a custodial sentence.

edit - Just realised that B r e n d a autocorrects to Brendan.  Good work FT.

The accepted standard is to use “Vardy” when discussing either Jamie or Becky— readers can refer to the entertainment section in the following day’s The Sun to find out which Vardy is actually being discussed.

Odd thread this.

I just usually go by what's on the shirt if just using one name. So Vardy, Barnes etc, but Ricardo in his case as that's what he has on his shirt. If using full names I just use what is mostly put out on club articles and teamsheets etc. So Wilfred Ndidi, even though Wilfred isn't his first name. We'd all say Harry Maguire, but he's really Jacob. In some cultures, like in Spain, Portugal etc for example, they have a second name after the surname they are generally referred as, I think Perez is actually Ayoze Perez Guttiérez, but would never call him that. Christiano Ronaldo has a name after Ronaldo, but its never used. So its really simple imo, all the info is out there.

Only odd ones are the likes of Javier Hernandez, and we don't have anyone in the squad that does this. He's listed on teamsheets by his name, but wears Chicharito on his shirt. I wouldn't often call him by his nickname even though its on his shirt, same as I'd never say Kun Agüero.
