Only Southgate knows. It's Albania for ****s sake. Having two deep midfielders is a) totally unneeded and b) plays into Albania's hands as it means one less attacking player to worry about when they're already sitting super deep.

For the top nations most matches are lose lose and difficult to assess.

 

The reality is that unless you dont qualify the performances and individual results dont mean much. For example, almost everyone will forget France dropping points against Ukraine by the time France play in the Qatar World Cup.

With our current crop of players I think it’ll only be Southgate who can somehow contrive for us not to get to at least the semis in the Euros. 
There’s still something missing from this team and I can’t quite figure it out.

Possibly a real top quality central midfielder might be the difference when we come up against the best

Qualifying games are never fun, until maybe the business end of the campaign, not sure why people are always surprised and say the same thing every time they come around. 

At least with away games you usually have the hostile atmospheres to make it interesting

There’s nothing creative coming from the middle, there’s no one in the team that can make that visionary, unexpected defence splitting pass. They’re mostly very good at winning, keeping and passing the ball and that’s about it.
