Perspective: we have cracked the “big” 6

I understand the doom and gloom after we slipped to 5th but come what May we are now again in the top 6 teams in the country, we are again in Europe and we have again won silverware. 

 

We have had an amazing season and we will have another European adventure (hopefully with fans) 

 

So to put a bit of perspective on things we have the : 

 

1) best owner in the league 

2) best British manager in the league 

3) best fans in the league 

4) best of all THE FA CUP 

 

so let’s give thanks for what we have and look forward to another amazing season next year

I hope that the fans in the KP at the weekend get behind the players with No booing at all. All Positive, it's been a great season. 

 

Hearing fans at Spurs Booing and fans moaning about their clubs. WE all need to stand as ONE and not criticize the players.

 

We are going into the last game, with a chance of Top 4. I remember the relegation battles and League 1. We need to remember where we have become. We Are Better Than those " Big 6" that term should have died with the ESL debacle. WE ARE LEICESTER CITY, OUR CITY!!!

Honesty think the big 6 are becoming a big 4 being the current top 4 which in itself works in our favour in terms of challenging and getting regular Europa League / Conference stints.

 

Arsenal's form makes them an outside bet for the top 4 but they'd still need a rebuild overall. Spurs are fvcked when Kane goes.

The ‘big 6’ is a financial thing, and we’re certainly not in that. May never be, and if we ever were it would take years.

 

Football-wise, it’s looking increasingly like a ‘big 4’ might be developing, with it being very possible that the top four this year will be the same teams as last year, just in a different order.

 

It’d be hard to pick anyone other than us as the ‘best of the rest’ at the moment - the most likely to disrupt those four teams. Obviously we’re the only club that could do that this season, but I’d imagine we’d be a lot of people’s picks as the best bet to do it next season.

I don't want to be part of the "so-called big six." It's a weird obsession amongst supporters in English game driven by the likes of Sky desperately trying to flog their television subscriptions.

 

I like us being the perennial underdog. I like watching everyone associated with these teams throw their toys out of the pram when things don't fit their entitled narrative.

 

Let them carry on with their huge revenue streams, invisible owners and tourist-filled stadiums and we'll just quietly go about our business disturbing the status quo.

In all fairness, unless they fvck up spectacularly from this point on - we should probably return to having a "big four" now tbh. 

 

If United have actually recovered from their wobble and Abramovich is back getting his checkbook out, that lot have no real excuse for letting us catch them. 

 

I know the usual bottle rhetoric will go round but, as others have pointed out and I've got to begrudgingly agree with, we've been quite consistent all year and ultimately two extremely wealthy clubs have just sorted their form out and caught us up. One is last years run away champions and the other is, iirc, Europe's highest spending club this year? 

 

We've done well to be the best of the rest. A near future of being England's Sevilla equivalent wouldn't be awful. Make sure we win the mini league of London clubs plus Everton below us and I'm not sure we can really expect vastly more without a miracle comparable to Tottenham buying and selling Bale.

How long did it take Man City to get into the big team list?

My narrow perspective here ranges from the ink drying on the ADG takeover contract to Martin Tyler shouting "Agueeeeeroooo" 

Overall, not that long. 

 

We have no financial comparison to Man City, I think they have to be impressed by our pound per point investment ratio, either way we're definitely doing incredibly well. 

 

I feel we need a few more seasons at the levels we've set under Brendan for us to be even considered in the 'Top 6' bracket.

 

It was Ric Flair that suggested we may soon be picking up some major new corporate partnerships, I agree.

 

Here are some companies/sponsors/partnerships I think we should be looking at to bump us into that next level.

We haven't just cracked the big 6, we've rattled them so much that they tried to set up a breakaway league to protect their income.

 

They can't beat us fairly on the pitch anymore, and that's seriously worrying for them.

Totally agree with this. There are some that will call this "small club mentality" and the like, but being in the top 5 every season and winning cups is a very successful team and honestly more than I ever expected of Leicester City.

 

Missing out on the Champions League again hurts, of course it does. But seeing the scenes from winning the FA Cup in front of our own fans is what Football is all about. That's what I hope to continue to see in the future!

 

It's also important to me that Leicester City continue to fly the flag for real football fans and clubs. Seeing what we have achieved without trying to break away and join a super league, voting against high prices for PPV matches, not furloughing any staff during the pandemic, developing local players through our academy and getting them into the football team... I am proud to support this club, they have the values that every football club should aspire to have.

 

I wouldn't trade what we have seen as fans for oil money pumped into buying the Champions League. It's hollow and feels fake. We have brought back the romance of football to millions of fans around the world. Seeing Andrea Bocelli sing as we lifted the title was the single greatest thing you will ever see in sport, ever!

It's super hard to crack top 4. In La Liga there are 3 big clubs, the 4th spot is up for grabs to anyone who fancies it, be it Sevilla or Valencia or Villarreal. Serie A has had multiple CL participants over the years. Lazio, Atalanta, Napoli, Roma, Inter,  Juventus. Bundesliga has 2 nailed on CL regulars (before Leipzig emerged). The other 2 spots in the last decade was taken up by Leverkusen, Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt. And before that Werder Bremen and Schalke had their turns as well.

 

The Premier League has 6 big clubs who are financially so far ahead of everyone else. .

I'm not bothered if we're considered as a big 6 club, but I do find it funny that a few years ago when we asked the question we were told that in order to be considered a big 6 club we have to win trophies and finish consistently in the top 6.

On the 25th March 2014 we played Yeovil in a league game and drew!!!

 

Since then, we finished 1st (PL CHAMPIONS), 5th & probably 4th or 5th in the land....

Got to say might be "financially" but not performance, that KPI is a top 4.

There's also a geographical divide. We're the top club from the provinces. Leeds are the next club up from outside London / the NW, then Villa, who are from the country's second city. 

We're always going to be a city from the East Midlands with a population slightly bigger than Wakefield.
