Completely agree. Just not a fan of TAA don’t really get all the hype around him. Don’t get me wrong he can absolutely ping a ball in pinpoint most of the time. So chuck in midfield and play someone in behind as he really can’t defend from what I’ve seen.

That’s us out in the Group Stage.

Taking Saka as fullback cover for the 5 fullbacks we already have instead of an inform Lingard who can cover the entire frontline is barmy to me.

So that would leave: 

 

Pickford, Henderson, Johnstone

 

James, Trippier, Walker, Maguire, Stones, Mings, Coady, Shaw, Chilwell

 

Henderson, Rice, Phillips, Bellingham 

 

Mount, Foden, Grealish, Sancho, Sterling, Rashford, Saka

 

Kane, Calvert-Lewin, Watkins

 

Definitely points to a back 5 against anyone decent. First choice centre backs aren't the best but the back ups??? :(

 

I would have Trent instead of Walker, and take an extra centre back instead of Saka/Watkins.

I do agree that I prefer Lingard to Saka, but tbf to Saka he can play on either wing as well as LB and LWB, so he offers decent versatility too.

I personally don't think Saka has done anywhere near enough yet to be in the squad but he does have ability and losing Greenwood we don't have many left footed attacking players left in the squad. 

 

Still can't get my head around Trent not going, he's a sensational player. It's nuts.

With the expanded 26 man squad there will be plenty that don't play a single minute, the question is who else would you take in his place that would have more of a chance of playing? There probably isn't anyone?

Just think Ward Prowse gives you an different option. If you are chasing the game take off someone like Rice or Henderson and put on JWP his corners and freekicks could be vital if we are chasing a game. 

 

Not sure i would throw Saka on if we need to change the midfield.

If we were chasing a game I'd be throwing one of the many creative midfielders that will invariably be on the bench and not starting such as Bellingham or Foden. Ward-Prowse is a set piece taker and that is it, as a midfielder he is nowhere near England class. 

 

Agreed on Saka but he's probably the best remaining option.

yeah true. 

 

I think Saka either needs to leave Arsenal or find his place and stick to it but with Arteta at the helm you just cant see him playing the same role week in week out. 

 

He has potential to be a top player. 

 

Its going to be an interesting month or two that i am starting to look forward to. 

 

Any one know what time the squad is announced ?
