The fact he started last night says nothing is imminent. I think he stays but if we get a decent offer he'll go on our terms.

It's the same for almost all our players. If you pay the asking price up front then we'll listen. But the asking prices are high and we won't be messed about.

I reckon the club are juggling numbers to see what's in the kitty for a CB, and I think we're all agreed that (at least) one of those is needed. If we get a tidy sum for Maddison then it makes the sums a little easier. I don't think anyone really wants to sell him but we need another CB.

I’ve said it for a while if Arsenal stump up the £60 million he’s gone. They are trying to unsettle the apple cart by feeding all the rubbish about player exchanges etc in the hope we will accept less. He’s gone if they bid the £60 mill asking price.

I agree, I didn't think he would go but Brendan's less than convincing answer and the desperate need for a CB makes it seem a little more likely.

Not just us .......every player at every club has a price.  i think only man city and chelsea haven't sold a player they would rather have kept.  i could be wrong on that too. even united had to sell CR7.

Don’t big clubs pay big transfer fees for top players they are targeting! I’ll give it to United, Chelsea etc they pay up eventually, not sure the Goonies have the funds to get this over the line, seems to be a desperation deal offering Grandpa Joe and Slugworth as part exchange.

We turned a £70 million last year apparently so I doubt we would accept 60

And you know the inner workings of the club how exactly? After last night the club might need to raise funds for a couple of center backs and Maddison is collateral damage

My own opinion is a minimum of £75-80mil. Bleed them dry because they are our rivals and if Ben White can go for £50mil then that's my argument. Maddison is worth more than maguire but this situation is different otherwise I think we could nudge it even higher.

Actually the fact that Man City have been prepared to pay 100 million for Grealish has damaged Arsenal's position.Although Maddison is not quite as good as him ,he is not that far behind which makes 70 million seem about right. You can be sure they were not expecting to pay that. We won't take any of their players so they are going to have to find the cash and I am not so sure they can.

Yep. We can hardly go much below £70 million when Grealish sold for £100m.

Agree we should be after 70 mill+ and only if we have players lined up which will improve our squad. We can still get a CB like Kabak + Cahill in a for less than 10 mill, which shouldn't require us selling Maddison.

They paid £70m for Pepe a few years ago, Maddison is arguably worth more than Pepe.

I think we’d really miss Maddison if he went and selling him to Arsenal might lift them into competing with us. That said, how many of you would sell him for £78m?

Love it if we string Arsenal along so they won't get Maddison  or have enough time to get an alternative, remember they are a rival to us, I don't want them rejuvenated and finish above us.
