I’d go with 3-5-2;

Jakupovic

Amartey Benkovic Soyuncu

Albrighton KDH Choudhury Praet Thomas

Perez Iheanacho

This is tongue in cheek btw. But it does demonstrate, that even if we were to field our ‘weakest’ team, with the players we currently have available, we don’t look that bad these days 👍🏼

Another consideration/concern is that so far, Kelechi and Daka look to have much better chemistry with each other than either does with Vards.

I thought Vardy linked up really well with Kelechi last season and was one of the reasons he was so prolific.

Can see Daka and Vardy being too similar to work well together though.

Jimenez worries me a little for this one, particularly without Evans. He's a completely different opposition to the plethora of number 10s that Man City offered. It'll be interesting to see if he goes hell for leather given the nature of the injury he sustained. I'm also intrigued to see how Trincao gets on, given the rumours of last summer, though I naturally hope that he has a stinker.

Not really sure what to expect from the game as I know nothing of Wolves new manager/set up etc but would hope we have enough to get off to a decent start.

This is what I would go for

                          Schmeichel

  Ricardo     Amartey    Soyuncu.    Bertrand

                               Ndidi

                     Youri         Maddison

            Nacho                        Barnes

                        Vardy or Daka

If we play to score a couple of goals early then bring off an attacker and bring on some steel to tighten it up plus we would have daka or vardy to bring open to maintain the threat up top

I expect it will be the same as Saturday.

                     Kasper

Ricardo   Amartey  Soyuncu   Bertrand

               Youri          Ndidi

  Perez         Maddison         Barnes

                     Vardy

Subs: Ward, Benkovic, Thomas, Hamza, Soumare, KDH, Albrighton, Nacho, Daka

I hope to see Sowah named as a sub instead of Hamza, though.

Meh.

Players are still trying to adapt to the way Lage wants them to play. A couple of decent performances, a couple of stinkers. In our last friendly on Saturday against Celta Vigo we were really poor first half and could have won the game second half if we took our chances.

I've no idea what to expect, and I'm not overly confident for this game put it that way. I'd take a draw right now (with a goal ruled out by VAR as per usual in our fixtures ;) ).

We still desperately need another CB and DCM before the window closes. And another spare striker too.

How’s jiminez looked since he’s been back?

If we defend well and are patient, I just can't see how we don't win this. I think we will definitely score, it's just if we can keep them out too.

Reading the Wolves forum (Molinuex Mix) there is not that much optimism for the season , the biggest ask appears to be more entertainment after the dirge they supplied last season. All the brash talk of hitting the top 4/6 their owners talked about a couple of years ago has seemingly gone, though like every club who knows how much the pandemic has changed club aspirations/finances. Sure they’ll be alright but looking at another mid table finish I think.

They could be dark horses this year, they clearly had a decent squad there and suffered from a bit of a wobble in confidence and the loss of their main goal scorer. It's not like we'd expect to do that well if Vardy was out for a season. Hell, we "only" lost Barnes and it probably cost us top four.

Benfica fans are largely full of praise for Lage and, specifically, the brand of football he had them playing. The general view in Portugal is that he's still a coach with a lot of promise who needs a shot at being backed by decent enough resources.

He could genuinely be exactly what Wolves need to bring a tidy group of players out of their shell.

They'll be dangerous and I definitely wouldn't write them off before the weekend. It's a tough start and a draw would neither surprise or disappointment me all that much.

Pretty good, thank goodness.

No problem heading the ball (wearing his padded head-band thingy), and his old self seems to be there in terms of all round play.

He hit the post on Saturday from a narrow angle which was a little unlucky, and I'm not worried about him at all. I've stuck him in my fantasy team this season, which tells you everything.

That is good to hear! Although I hope he has a stinker on Saturday

We'll likely line up in a 3-4-3. Lage has seemingly abandoned his 4-4-2 ideas for now as we don't have the players for it yet.

We have one or two injuries at CB which is annoying, but it should look something like this:

Sa

Kilman - Coady - Saiss

Semedo - Dendoncker - Neves - Ait-Nouri

Trincao - Jimenez - Traore

Usually a tough game against these. First league game back so likely cagey from both sides.

With that in mind I’m going 4-0 to us, Vardy hatrick and one from Ndidi. You know it makes sense.

That's pretty strong. Hoping the wingers are snuffed out early and I'll fancy us then.

Defence is our main issue right now. You're better at scoring than us which is why I think you'll win this one.

I know you have defensive issues at CB too but you'll outscore us more often than not.

Same as Saturday.

I actually think Wolves will be dire this season and only stay up after changing manager.

Cue them nicking a 1-0 this weekend
