Of the many list of failings that can be levelled at the club, what comes out towards the top for me is the total failure to replace Vardy. Vardy was a unique player, a once in a generation find for a club like ours but his tIme at the club came to an end in such a drawn out, staged way that it gave us ample time to try and replace him and the best they have managed to recruit is a striker who scores 1 in 50.

I like Daka's attitude and work rate and he he pulls us up the pitch with his energy and running and that really suits the system Marti wants to play. Unfortunately, his finishing ability is pretty poor which is far from ideal for a team chasing promotion.

Daka, Ayew, Carranza: Marti has been given lemons and been asked to make a P0rnstar Martini. Let's support him whilst he figures out how to get us creating and scoring more.

Daka played well yesterday whether we like it or not.

Hopefully he gets a consistent run in the side and finds his shooting boots too after about 6 years. I’m starting to think there’s a player in there somewhere

Yeah alright Brendan

No he didn’t 😂

Dakas on 75k a week.

One of the examples at the time in our era of our complete ineptitude.

So he ran for the header from Fatawus rebound...and missed..

His runs into the box on Tuesdsy night ALL missed the ball..BUT he makes the team play better somehow!!

As Keegan said I'd LOVE it if he ends up scoring 20 a season, love it...but at the moment he's an example and a reminder of what was wrong at the club at the time giving these flops massive wages which basically  stops any club wanting to touch them with a bargepole

If Daka is our best option up front, we have terrible options.

Guy is on a massive wage, cost £23m when we bought him. And has scored an average of three goals – per season.

Apart from his physique, he's the complete opposite of Vardy.

He's fast (arguably). But what are his other qualities? Falling over, a poor first touch, missing his scoring boots week in, week out? What do we actually expect from a striker?

Man, we've been so had by RB Salzburg with this deal.

I've mentioned it in another thread, Daka should've moved to the Bundesliga or France in order to further prove himself, à la Haaland.

The transfer to LCFC came too early.

How much more patience, how much leniency do we still have, and how much of it is deserved?

I'd love for Daka to find back to his former self. Because he's clearly still wondering what he's doing on the pitch.

If he can't contribute until the end of December, he's only in the way and he's got to go. Next summer the latest.

I am firmly in the “I hope a run of games gives him the confidence to unlock the potential he showed before joining us” camp.

The “shit, end of” camp seem to misunderstand human nature a little. The guy is probably utterly bereft of confidence. He was in the ascendancy and joining us was a disaster for both parties. He’s been maligned and jeered. He’s been used sporadically and has always been the fall back.

He may well fail to make the grade, but we still don’t know what he’s truly capable of if he’s believed in, starts every game, and if the goals start to come.

You’ve got to love an arc of redemption. I really hope he gets to shove two fingers up at everyone who’s written him off.

We’ll see.

*Cue all the “he played loads in the Championship” posts

To paraphrase the old cliche, it is the definition of madness to pick the same player and expect different results.

You've made a fine case for the defence but after four years, the jury's returned and the verdict is in.

As for negativity, you have to make the distinction between supporting the player at the ground which I agree with and speaking freely and airing your frustrations on a forum which is completely different.

This is it really. He stretches the pitch, taking defenders away from others and creating space. He runs for the entire time he's on the pitch, chasing anything down.

He isn't clinical, but compared to Ayew who really isn't a 9 and Carranza who is still getting used to the league, he should probably continue to start

He’s shit. Not as quick as people think, weak as piss (not sure why he sometimes tries actually being physical with the defender, should be constantly on his toes running away from them)

why doesn’t he run into the channels more?

but sadly probably our best option for the team currently, he does work hard which helps. But needs to find a way to actually keep hold of the ball

Did it all afternoon yesterday.

He’s done more work in the last two games than Ayew has done in the last 7 put together.

(Not you in particular) But don’t know why people are struggling to wrap their head around what others are saying, no one’s saying he’s good, merely that he’s the best option available to us right now.

Been one of his biggest critics and still think he's utterly useless at what he's supposed to be.....a goal scorer and what he was brought in to do....score goals.

But credit where it's due, recently, especially yesterday, he's played well..... just doing everything else he's on the pitch to do..... except score goals.

it just puts me in a huge conundrum about where I go with my thoughts and feelings on him.

What do we need strikers for then?

Might as well play with a six-man midfield. Just like Spain did.

Eh? I think the point is that Ayew is basically playing as a midfielder when he plays. Daka has the attributes to actually run in behind and press teams without the ball.

I think every LCFC fan fan is in that camp.  Hope and opinion are different things.

It pains me to think that, we could have got in Ollie Watkins or Jarrod Bowen had we been prepared to take a punt on up-and-coming Championship strikers.  Either would have been a fair Vardy replacement.
