But what are these “fundamental skills”?

I just don’t see it… People say he’s lightning quick but I never see evidence of it on the pitch. People say his movement is grear but he never finds space and is easily marked. People say he’s a great finisher but he misses easy chances. He also can’t hold the ball up or control or

What are these fundamentals he’s supposedly great at? Kramaric I always thought clearly had talent with the ball at his feet. Daka just doesn’t

He’s so weak as well, I reckon I could get the ball off him.

Genuinely don’t think he’s good enough I’m afraid. Touch is poor, lightweight and I’m sure he is fast, I just don’t think I’ve ever witnessed it. If we stay up I’d definitely be moving him on unfortunately. PL is a big step up and I just don’t think he’s good enough. Shame I was really rooting for him.

It's been said already but Daka was played out of position today so was never going to look great. Numerous times he received the ball out wide and didn't really seem to know what he was supposed to do. He's not the type of player to take a man on and beat him or whip a cross in, he needs to be in the middle poaching chances.

Having said that, he should have scored at least once in the second half.

You may be right, but I'm sure many said the same things of Vardy before he settled for us, and in assessing any of our players you have to factor in the Rodgers effect - not playing to the strengths of the players and draining their confidence.  I think you have to give all of our players a bit of time to settle with the new management team and then reassess them.

worked his arse off but looked lost out wide, you wonder if he was due to start there or was Maddison's illness the reason?

Think Praet would have been a better option there myself.

I personally want to see a player get a run of games before writing them off. He’s been given bit parts in games and has looked anxious when on the ball, looks like he’s carrying a huge weight, I think he deserves another season myself.

To an extent you are right, but I think with Vardy, even from the start you could see he was lightning quick and aggressive/strong for his size even if he didn’t have the technical or movement skills just then and that gave him two big advantages to work from. Vardy used to go shoulder to shoulder and push defenders much bigger than him off the ball through sheer aggression and outrun players.

Daka just doesn’t show any fundamental physical stats like that. I keep seeing people say he’s fast and as quick as Vardy, but I never see him out pacing defenders or showing his speed like Vardy always has done, I think people seem to keep saying it based on YouTube clips of him playing in Austria against defenders of a very very low standard. I don’t see anything from him that show he’s anywhere near as quick as Vardy and people just have parroted “you need to play it over the top” for him to run on to as he can ourtrun defenders so often they believe it.

I remember Vardy leaving Hector Bellarin for dead when Bellarin was widely considered one of the fastest players in Europe and going shoulder to shoulder with with defenders much bigger than him and Vardy forced them off the ball. Daka I never see outpace even average-paced PL defenders and always gets outstrengthed.

Totally agree with this analysis, his end product is off the mark as proved yesterday no power in the delivery.

Hope I'm wrong and a few goals rectify these issues as his confidence grows, but struggling to see it, plus alot of silly fowls yesterday.

Different Coach and playing him in the correct position and he will come good. Ruined (same as Kelechi) due to a egotistical head coach that was clueless 50% of the time.

He's a through the middle striker.

When we signed him, the clips of his goalscoring was impressive with both feet and was decent at attacking crosses with his head.

He's not a winger and hopefully he'll show more of what he's capable of, as Vardys fantastic career comes to an end

Reading some of the comments here gives me déjà vu from 5 years ago when everyone wrote off Kelechi.

.. let's see how long it takes for Shakey to teach him to be stronger on the ball, and use his nous as to how to ease people off it!!!

He needs to stop looking for help from the referee, going down just makes him look weak and encourages the opposition to very physical with him.

He has been pulled wide to accommodate Vardy, as their is little time for the new management to work with him in the role of our number one striker. The way we are looking to play will suit him in his proper role,  but there are more pressing areas to put right.

I suspect he will get the nod over Vardy for the next game if Maddison is still out and Barnes makes a recovery.

Give the lad a break, his confidence must have taken a battering under he who shall no longer be named….. He hasn’t had a confident run in his best position, once he does, then he should be judged. He isn’t the type of players who’s got stacks of technical ability, he’s a goal scorer, and needs to be played in a way that will get the best out of him.

Barnes would have started there but didn't quite make it for the game. Madders would have been in Kelechi's role. Smith obviously trying to stick to a particular formation for 7 games and not have to shuffle the deck with only 3 days between games.

I'm not going to judge him based on yesterday. He's as effective as a winger as Vardy was when Pearson first pushed him out there. He was filling a gap but at some point someone needs to either make him the main striker or let him go.

And lets not forget, he largely took one for the team yesterday. Its a position where even when he is on form many complain that Barnes is complete gash. He did a job which didn't really play to his strengths and should be commended for that.

looked fine yesterday, had to play in barnes' role out of position

that really is not his game, always impressed how tough he is and likes a challenge
