Sevilla as a city was set up better for ticketless fans as they set up events with big screens including one of these being setting up in a stadium holding 30k, that helps when it comes to hosting ticketless fans.

Both Frankfurt and Rangers fans were dealt with heavy handed outside the ground. Numerous belongings taken off them and then when getting in the ground, there was no available water. Stories of fans pulling apart sprinkler pipe work to get a drink in 33 degree heat.

Frankfurt throughout their run have been notorious for taking over cities with thousands of ticketless fans. In recent memory this included them overpowering Arsenals security staff and getting hundreds into the Emirates without ticket.

Again in Tirana, they made the sensible decision to set up a big screen in the Feyenoord fan area to give an expected 4k ticketless supporters an area to mill. Well documented the trouble in the city the night before with over 100 arrests and deportations across the two sets of fans.

To make the very simplistic argument that some fault lies at Klopp telling Liverpool to travel to Paris is nonsense tribal football whataboutery.

There is always for an European Cup final going to be jibbers. There is always going to be ticketless fans. There is always going to be thousands upon thousands. Plan, organise and police it better (Rome did this largely brilliantly in the circumstance at the start of the month for our visit). Cities and stadiums can’t lap up the boost to the economy by hosting but then not be willing to organise themselves properly.

For some unknown reason the operation last night at Stade de France completely went away from their normal plan and it just fell into chaos.

To make the argument that its the polices fault is as simplistic tbh.

Its not totally the fans fault and its not totally the polices fault but if a minority of idiots forge tickets and jib this is what happens. The scale of the issue far worse on the Liverpool side and there's no excuse for that other than a load of dickheads forging tickets. Happened with us at psv and Rome but luckily we got away with it.

Missing my point/maybe I’m not making it clear enough. This has nothing to do with forged tickets. The blocks, checks and stops police put in place for Liverpool fans was completely different to what was in place for Madrid fans. They were effectively waved through, Liverpool were not and remember NO CHECKS on tickets were done prior to the turnstiles. Thousands of ticketless fans is a simple, Tory-esque, lie.

I've heard this a few times this morning but why on earth would the police put checks in one place but not the other?

The police clearly didn't do a good job but the narrative that its all their fault is as simplistic as the 'tory lies'.

This is some of the stuff I’m getting at an organisational level. Creating obscene bottlenecks with physical barriers

Also credible sources saying that the fake tickets was predominantly local gangs from Saint Denis

Anyway I’ve said my piece

Excellent tweet and his timescales essentially match ours. The police vans blocking the pavement was a major issue. Countless fans pleading with the cops to move them whilst being crushed,  cops smiled at them and waved back. This is when my friend shouted at them in French to move them, and he got escorted out of the melee into safety. Presumably because they knew it was v dangerous and didn’t want their own to get hurt.

I didn’t say it’s all their fault, but they are significantly to blame here, it’s undoubted. It’s no surprise English fans are treated worse than those from the continent, and Madrid are royalty so had the red carpet rolled out for them. Their behaviour was very unruly last night.

I shouldn’t be surprised, but I really still am, at multiple people on this thread who have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about going into a long analysis about what happened on the ground. The Ontario fox post is so amazingly laughable it’s not even worth a reply

Reading through the thread from before the game yesterday, the levels of anti-Scouse vitriol was genuinely unhinged, especially in light of what’s emerging now. Some of you seriously need some help, Tom3647485822 especially

These are grown men aswell lol

Maybe it's the way I see it but the euro final all got blamed on poor policing when I have a degree of sympathy that they have to deal with a load of coked up idiots - where does the blame sit there? They'll be those that say its as bad on the continent and it's all victimisation but there's not much evidence to suggest that and anyone who's ever been to a european away with a brain cell knows not to wind up the police.

I got caught up in the euro final nonsense and it wasn't the police that were the issues there. English football has a massive behaviour / coke problem that some refuse to admit and whilst the police were undoubtedly heavy handed a minority ruin it for the rest of them and we shouldnt apologise for them.

I agree with the coke problem that does need sorting. I wasn’t at the euro 2020 final but did get into London (I live there) from a weekend in Leicester around 14.00 and could sense trouble already. Yesterday, I was at the Liverpool fan zone all day and it was a fantastic, well behaved and good natured atmosphere. As I said earlier, I got very wound up by a cop who hit me and threw my pint on the floor, you know not to wind up European cops but they bait you. This narrative that Madrid fans were impeccable is also ludicrous. The evidence clearly states this was victimisation by police

I’ve done 4 European aways with Leicester this season. We got on the defensive when some Rennes kids ‘stormed’ fox and friends lol. I’ve been in Tirana this week and Paris this weekend. The difference in approach to safety is startling.

On the game itself. Most clubs will win zero European trophies ever, and here we have one with their 14th European Cup. Unreal. AC Milan are closest to them with 7. Imagine having double the CLs than the closest rival.

Also, some nostalgic merchants were saying Roberto Carlos was better than Marcelo. Marcelo is twice the player Carlos was and I was alive during Carlos' peak years.

He's been in a pundit role for far too long anyway but surely this is the end of Owen as a pundit now?

The anti scouse unhinged nonsense is mind blowing but I do believe there are way too many  ex Liverpool pros as pundits. The media is littered with them. Michael Owen is genuinely unintelligent.

Some of the other scouse pundits arent too bad. Macca is biased in co commentary but at least he makes some decent points in general. Carragher and Souness are both ok but you only really need one of them.

Are you a Leicester fan or Lpool?

Just wandering why any non Liverpool fan would make a trip to Paris?

Out of town stadiums are also a bit of an issue for big games I feel in comparison to stadium that are pretty central. The former concentrates fans a hell of a lot more on approach.

****ing hell. This police officer at the end should get done for serious assault. Just pepper sprays a fan from nowhere while he’s showing his ticket at the turnstiles.

People blaming Liverpool fans are idiots. Policing like this and creating unexplained bottlenecks and closing gates 2hrs before kick off with no explanation and pepper spraying at will. Police could easily have caused another Hillsbrough.

Heh. Apart from the museums, and the Seine, and the wine bars, and the shopping, and the pavement cafes and the sights, why would anyone pay a visit to Paris?

For the record I've never stayed in Paris (passed through by train once), but it does seem to attract millions of tourists each year. Can't blame anyone who combines a trip with a sporting event,. Maybe us one day?

Just behind Milan as one of the most overrated cities in the world. Its essentially marketed to non europeans as a really romantic city. Decent architecture of course and worth a visit at some point for people but could name is at least 20 cities in europe I enjoyed more.

Hold on there sailor. There are also videos of Liverpool fans jumping the barrier and lauding the use of fake tickets.

What is consistent here? There was idiocy from both sides of the fence yesterday. The perfect storm of a police force who will jump from zero to a hundred with the first question asked and a fan base who were substanced up and ready to ‘take it to the tories’.

What an absurd comment.

I dobt know ANY Leicester fans who Would willingly  travel to Paris on Champions league final  day and spend time with liverpool fans unless they have affiliation with them in some context.

Anyway, for me, it's all good, Liverpool  lose, they create more non sporting headlines along the way and their fans have  something else to gatp on about and cry.....good.

I am a Leicester fan who applies for tickets for every World Cup, euro, champions league and uefa super cup final via the public ballots. This year I was lucky enough to get champions league and have a close friend who supports Liverpool who has a lot of connections in Paris (free accommodation, native speaker) so gave him my additional ticket and hence spent time with Liverpool fans all day. Your last comment shows incredible naivety, trolling or a basic lack of understanding. The public ballots for these tournaments, rightly or wrongly, are for football fans who want to experience these huge occasions as a neutral, and millions apply every year.  I was also in Tirana, along with lots of other Leicester to see Roma v feyenoord on weds

Mate, let’s be honest, if our fans had paid £200 for a ticket + flight and hotel costs and they were queuing 2hrs before the game, the gates were closed without explanation then plenty of our fans probably many on here would try and climb the gates to get in to see the match. If the police had given any communication at all then that wouldn’t happen.

There’s loads of credible eye witnesses from neutrals out there of people queuing patiently getting tear-gassed including children. Regardless of if a few fans used fake tickets that is an absolutely absurd and life-threateningly dangerous abuse of power from the police.

Trying to create a false equivalency between Liverpool fans and the police here and going with “both sides-ism” is so transparent.
