Agree with the shouts for Soumaré rather than Maddison tonight just for some height and physicality.

How can we have 6 players out and another only just returning and not match fit after two games of the season?

Barnes' injury last year was avoidable. Justin had played every game and needed a rest. No coincidence those 2 that played virtually every game got bad injuries - overloading.

Vestergaard had no pre season and then gets injured in training. Sounds very avoidable to me.

I'm a big Rodgers fan but his record of managing injuries everywhere he's been is atrocious.

How do you know, unless you have seen his medical records?

Vestergaard you are just guessing unless you know more details?

I think you are right here but this is what happens when a small club like ours tries to compete with the big boys.  We only have one winger that's any good so they have to play every game.  Justin had to play as he was cover for at full back.  Not playing those till they broke would have meant that we finished maybe 7th or 8th such was their impact while they were fit. The number of points Barnes helped get was insane last season.

I think this season will be the same or worse as we are already at our limit in wide positions with Barnes as our only useful winger. Tielemans playing every game, Madison injured already making midfield precarious and the defence is pretty much shagged right now.

The only real positive is that the transfer window is still open and Brendan has a way of getting results with the players he has available.

agree with this. Some people will say it's bad luck but when it consistently happens over a sample of a long time it means questions should be asked internally.

At least Betrand will be back from his isolation for the next game. Is he any good as a CB?

......why is everyone overlooking Benkovic...  !!!

Surely he gets on the bench and with our record, gets a chance.

Rodgers quotes that there was a bit of bone floating in his knee when he got injured. The physios knew about it and he was advised to rest him but without maddison and praet he didn't feel he could.

And it doesn't take a genius to work out what's happened with vestergaard given he said on Saturday he's not trained.

Because Rodgers, Celtic days aside, consistently overlooks him. He's barely worth mentioning anymore. (Cue him playing tonight)

Rodgers said so himself, they'd been trying to " manage " it but then played him anyway.

..  I  an a big fan of Benkovic and would love to see him given a chance!!!

He appears to be settled at the moment being around the first team and not being dragged all over the place.

We might need his recovery speed tonight and his tackling, when going to ground is top notch.

Don't really understand how a professional, who played in the Euro Championships, and undergoes a strict medical before being signed, can be not fit enough to play when back about 3 weeks later.

All very odd. Yes players can get injured, by BR said he was wasn't fit enough. Sounds like he was fit enough for Southampton and Denmark but not fit enough for us.

Wonder if over achieving is as a result of over training or too intensive training; works well initially then injuries and fatigue catch up with us.

Then injury problem is starting to become an issue. Last season there was an excuse thanks to COVID and the schedule…. But, the fact so many players are getting injured, and the likes of Maddison seems to be struggling to overcome his injury. It’s certainly very concerning… would be interesting to get views from our resident Celtic posters and what their injury records were like…… this is borderline Arsenal injury management and they are just in general a laughing stock…..

It’s what happened to Klopp in his last season with Dortmund, he had run his players into the ground and his success came at a cost when they just as a club couldn’t complete at those kind of levels. Again, we saw it with Klopp last season too. I do wonder if these managers who demand a high intensity consistently are actually damaging their long term chances of consistent success…. The amount of injury can no longer just be bad luck…..

So he would have need a operation anyway? Do you have a source for the bit about him being advised by the physio as I'm not sure a rest sorts out a bit of bone floating in your knee.

As for Vestergaard how else is he going to get fit, injuries happen in training it just one of those things.

But rest was never going to sort out a bit of bone floating around in a knee.

I'm not sure this injury is 'one of those things' but we'll see.

Except footballers get injured all the time. Barnes’s injury wasn’t that bad as football injuries go, and Justin’s was a freak landing that could have happened to anyone at any time. There’s no reason to believe that either of their injuries was anything to do with how many games they’d played.
