Possibly, though the majority of our major injuries have occurred during competitive games.

This Vestergaard injury, and perhaps Evans were maybe impacted if this is a factor.

But I also recall this period when Arsenal was basically a medical ward instead of a football team.

I thought the opposite, it was said that the KP pitch was too soft which is why they just had it relaid over the summer. I'm sure a huge proportion of our injuries seem to occur at home....

True, most of our injuries have come in competitive games and at home too. Now you mention it I do remember the pitch around Jan to April time last year was really slow and heavy which would also suggest soft.

My theory is most probably way off the mark which serves me right for listening to anything Rio Ferdinand has to say.

Attack has to be our best form of defence tonight.. Don't give West Ham the chance to pin us in.

Please Brendan for once be brave.

Disagree. If we ‘sit in’ tonight and hit them on the counter attack I’m confident we’ll win. If we go and sit on the halfway line camped in their half which is what they want, they’ll do exactly what they did to us last season.

Come and break us down, I doubt they’ve got the quality to do so.

Barnes' injury last year was avoidable. Justin had played every game and needed a rest. No coincidence those 2 that played virtually every game got bad injuries - overloading.

Vestergaard had no pre season and then gets injured in training. Sounds very avoidable to me.

I'm a big Rodgers fan but his record of managing injuries everywhere he's been is atrocious.

It’s the price you pay for high intensity training.

I think that's it. Its not luck. It's just a shame we need a squad of about 600 players to keep us going through the season and areas that are already down on depth get exposed.

At least we now hopefully won't play 3 at the back

Only because we haven't got 3 fit defenders :( Our new formation is going to be 1 at the back and 8 in midfield.......

Seem to remember years ago Arsenal always seemed to have loads of non contact injuries similar to us, Fofana and Castange aside. A few years ago Rio Ferdinand came out and said that when they were away with Englad they often used Arsenal's training ground as a base and that the training pitches there were noticably harder than those at other clubs and that he thought this may be a contributing factor.

Obsiously could be complete rubbish but wondering whether the pitches at Seagrave are a bit harder than those at Belvoir Drive and it's compounding our issues.

We have only just started using them...

The thought of Armartey stepping in tonight makes me a lot less confident going into this.

West Ham will cause the strongest of defences a lot of problems this season.

Can see us going with 3 cbs - soyuncu, Castagne and Amartey.

Me too. I think he might want Soyuncu to man mark Antonio rather than playing with a two, as Antonio will drift to Amartey's side and probably destroy him.

If the club had gone another ten million or so they might have got the nuclear blast proof Tarkowski. This is very unlikely to happen now.

He would have probably suffered a career-ending recurrence of that toe sprain 5 minutes after joining us.

So Antonio will be following Amartey around, and Soyuncu will be following Antonio around? Will the Benny Hill theme tune be playing while this is happening?

Right who is desperate for game time.......Praet? Hamza? Mendy? Now is your time to shine as a versatile player 😂

What a blooming nightmare this is!

You have to laugh or you would cry right?! 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Amartey will be fine. In fact I’d back him more against a centre forward like Antonio who’s game is based on strength and speed than against a more wily, clever striker.
Shame about the injury though, just limits our options tonight in case we wanted to switch to 3 atb.

If we sit in they will rain endless crosses into our penalty area which will only end one way, given their big height advantage and the fact we are fielding our third choice left back and our fifth choice centre back.

Ah yes, I forgot you had the clubs Lloyds log on details!
