Can’t believe the naivety of the Leics coppers just allowing them to stroll around. Every police force in Europe would have had them

on a virtual bubble trip

That the problem with Euro Poling too heavy handed, go in with batons and riot gear as soon as possible. Most of them are absolute thugs. Treat all fans the same. Really pisses me off and makes me get angry at the tossers.

Why are the police not doing anything to stop the Napoli fans? Pathetic policing that is.

Leicestershire coppers were a ****ing embarrassment yesterday, both in person and on Twitter. Useless.

They were strolling around town with dust masks on asking for fights ffs, whilst the police came into the Leicester boozers to see who was about lol:facepalm:

Its strategic policing and it generally works quite will to minimise violence. Id rather our policing methods than what you see the European police doing, doing in with Batons and riot gear, smacking anyone in the area regardless of whether they are involved. Normally absolutely repressive and tyrannical the way the police in Spain for example. One way to get people riled and get more people involved in my view. If some no job copper whacks me with a baton for no reason, I am going to get pissed off and start defending.

German police forces have the balance right in my experience.

Yesterday there was no meeting point, no organisation when it came to supervising their coaches - all which were in place for the CL games, Copenhagen are a more than organised outfit when it comes to violence but no disorder that day. Sevilla had a few problems at Jubliee Square but at least the police could control to that point.

Instead they proceeded to allow Napoli fans to go strolling around at will

I was there, got in a scrap with a bunch of Napoli lads, no problem took all 3 out with my clapper.

TBF the brutal attack by the guy with the flag is was one on the funniest things I've seen at a football match😂

It takes two to tango!

As much as Napoli fans/ultras are thugs and looking for trouble and keeping a reputation, it only works when the opposition bite. Now unfortunately, the UK football scene has a lot of "old school" type people and kids that want to be like that who just bite at anything. I have not seen any point where people were under threat from Napoli fans yesterday. They were no doubt goading but it looks like a few of ours bit and gave Napoli what they wanted. The videos seem to show Leicester fans on the approach, not the other way round.

So the defending yourselves/others point is rubbish. If none of our fans react/retaliate, there is no trouble other than Napoli fans mouthing away and giving it large. If they were storming across in masses onto our fans, then the self defense argument would stand.

Yesterday was just a bunch of likeminded idiots coming together. Those fans of ours knew Napoli's reputation and they knew that they could have a day out. I doubt those same people would show their face in Napoli and stand up like that.

You don't need to see scenes like this when they are avoidable.

The scruffy **** who you can see in that video swinging the belt, 🐷 were so interested in arresting him that they didn’t even put up a fight to keep him pinned down, the Napoli fans managed to pull him back into the crowd.

I don't disagree, but blokes walking around the city centre with masks on tooled up? And standing there watching them hitting other fans in the ground is absolutely mental, they needed to come in heavy handed on these.

If your walking through town today and someone aggressively takes there belt off and starts swinging round there head walking towards you or another member of the public threateningly then twats someone with it several times. then you are well within your rights to subdue him with reasonable force.

It should be no different in a stadium.

That’s not what happens though. Firstly we never see which side started it and secondly the Leicester fans in that video were being as aggressive as the napoli fans. Which to me suggests it’s not self defence. If it was it’s unclear who’s actually the one defending themselves as we don’t know from the video who started it. Lots of people on here say loads of Leicester fans were looking for trouble and throwing things.

The police were next to useless, way to slow to react.

Napoli thugs literally going round town whipping people with belts before the match too - what they hell did they then expect.

You’re a wrong one you are. How many times have we seen violence in the ground in recent years? How many times have we seen Napoli involved in violence over recent years? Give your head a wobble, there’s a reason it kicked off yesterday and it’s because 200 Italians came over looking for it. Whipping random people in Bede park with belts and all sorts going on yesterday afternoon.

What video are you watching exactly because you can clearly see the Napoli fan half way across the tarp trying to hit a lad with a belt buckle if someone attacks my friend be it rightly or wrongly I'm stepping in

As I’ve said before the fact that Napoli were involved probably brought out the fans looking for trouble. Been a lot of people who were there saying there were Leicester fans looking for trouble and there were clearly overly aggressive Leicester fans in the videos. Just because it’s napoli and they have a reputation it doesn’t give Leicester fans the right to act like thugs.

That image says it all. No arrests in the stadium and yet you clearly have a Napoli fan about to take a swing at the police with a belt. No Leicester fan in sight in that image so his intention was clearly to hurt the police. How can he get away with that?

Police on the ground should have been in protective gear not short sleeve shirts given the risk of disorder.

Senior cops including the Dave the football non-intelligence officer on Twitter have dropped an absolute clanger

You are right and to be fair, as soon as missles are being launched, they should be changing into helmets. All seems far too laid back. Maybe abit of lack of experience dealing with European fans coming through I think. Generally they manage the Premier league fans pretty well, but that's probably because it doesn't really stretch beyond verbals.

Completely.

You used to see them all lined up in the concourse with their helmets and shields ready when we used to play Yeovil, but now that we're finally playing in Europe they've reverted to sending out a handful of cops who look like they usually direct traffic
