Legia Warsaw Pre-Match Thread: 5:45pm @ Polish Army Stadium

I worry about us in games like tomorrow. Not because I don’t think we have the quality but because we are so predictable to play against.

It is obvious that if we don’t start quickly tomorrow the home crowd will be loud and hostile towards us. My main fear is that we will struggle to turn the tide and nobody will put a foot on the ball and calm it down.

We absolutely cannot allow Legia to control the tempo and dominate proceedings, we HAVE to be streetwise, I hope that the games against Slavia Prague will be utilised as a learning curve tomorrow.

I think tomorrow will be a struggle but I also believe that we will hurt them going forward (even if we don’t play that well).

1-1.

Just feels to me like the sort of game we really turn up and stuff them.

The chips are down. Its typical bloody Leicester. I know we're a bit soft now but you don't lose your club DNA that quick.

Its like a very lesser version of when he lost a load of our players to rape allegations and played our oppo off the pitch the next game (I might be remembering the performance as better than it was; but the chips were down and we really stood up that day and won).

Just my thoughts.

“It is understood that Iheanacho’s documents did not tally with his passport, so border control at Warsaw airport refused to allow him to join up with the rest of the squad.”

Iheanacho was detained at Warsaw's Chopin Airport and will now fly back to England after officials noticed anomalies between the information on his passport and paperwork

Leicester striker Kelechi Iheanacho will be forced to miss his side's Europa League clash against Legia Warsaw on Thursday after being stopped at the Polish border.

The Nigerian international has been denied entry to the country after Polish authorities noticed a discrepancy in the details on his paperwork when compared alongside his passport.

Iheanacho was detained at Warsaw's Chopin Airport as a result and will now play no part in the Foxes' fixture.

Manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed the news, telling reporters: "We’ve had an issue with Kelechi so his documentation coming into the country wouldn’t suffice.

“Unfortunately he’s not available to play which is a shame because he would have played in the game.

“The paperwork didn’t allow him to enter the country, which is unfortunate. We’ll have to look at that when we get back.”

Iheanacho is now set to return to the UK after club officials discussed with the Polish authorities the best way to secure his safe passage back.

The wrangle over his documentation is in no way related to Covid.

Rodgers will now have to do without the 24-year-old and it will come as a blow to Iheanacho too, given his only starts so far this season have been in the cup competitions.

Midfielder Wilfried Ndidi is also absent for Leicester due to suspension while defender Jonny Evans has been struck down by illness.

Leicester drew their first match of this season's competition with Napoli while Legia Warsaw currently top Group C after an opening win over Spartak Moscow.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Rodgers said: "It's what football is all about travelling to great stadiums to play big name teams in front of passionate fans.

“Legia are a great club. It promises to be a great game with a great atmosphere. Their fans are very passionate but that's something you have to deal with.”

I think we'll go strong given we didn't beat Napoli. We can't afford not to win the next 2 EL games.

No Evans, Iheanacho or Ndidi but that's a good team. Hamza is the only DM available in the squad so I wouldn't be massive surprised to see him. But perhaps Soumare will be enough.

Good shout, some of those Bosnian lads are top quality.

Doubt he'll start. Rodgers doesn't tend to throw new players into the starting line up.
