My brother is actually colourblind for red and green. Thank fook - if he wasn't he could have ended up a Tigers fan.

the people moaning about this in this thread. What the fvck is wrong with you. Fair enough if its just tongue in cheek but if you're seriously upset about sport being more accessible to disabled fans at literally zero cost to yourselves on any level then way to expose yourself as a complete dickhead.

It’s a good summary of the country at the moment. Some kind of bizarre protest against “PC/woke” when it actually means people want to be able to carry on being ignorant, selfish and belligerent.

This is a great idea, it means more people can enjoy games, with no downside, apart from upsetting gammons.

Great idea, I’m colour blind and struggle with certain colours  or shades . Prime example. I don’t play snooker as I can’t tell the difference between the red and the brown .

Needless kit changes really annoy me on a very superficial level, but this is a fantastic idea and I hope football follows suit.

I've a couple of mates (that I know of) who suffer from colour-blindess, but it was years and years after first meeting them that I even knew about it in either case. They were really shy about mentioning it and I can't even remember why they did. Dunno if it's because of embarrassment about the condition or what, but anything that can help people who suffer has to be a good thing (unless you're a weird Culture Wars nonce, of course - well done for outing yourselves in this thread lads).

Not for you but there are many types of colour-blindness.

I'm surprised by so many blazae reactions in here.

It's hardly political correctness wanting the game to be accessible for everyone, is it?

Eh ? I didnt say it was political correctness nor did I say I have an issue with it. I was responding to the post where the person asked for the opinion of someone who is colourblind as to whether the change would have an impact on them. I just responded with my thoughts. I dont think it effects my enjoyment of sport and didnt have kit colour change at the top of my agenda to make things more equal.

What confuses me about the change is that there is also a mixture of what effects those who suffer from colourblind vision - in the article it states that they've chosen those colours because they're the most common. But why is the change specific to red and green ? Other colours can cause confusion for example Blue and purple or claret. Red and brown - I use to colour the grass brown and the tree trunks green at school. My pictures looked like someone had taken a massive dump on the grass. This is why its weird to me. They've effectively discriminated against certain people who dont have an issue with red and green but do so with other colours. That's why its weird. I don't understand the thought process behind the determination - it may be the most common but surely to bring about an equal change it should not be so specific - perhaps everyone plays in stripes or black and white ? I have no issue with changes to any rules for people who have an issue - I just think there needs to be more research on the effects before jumping on a bandwagon one way or the other.

Thank god Tigers play in red and white.

I hate the fact that Ireland and Wales have played in the same colour kits for over a century

Look, joking aside, I get that it's a problem for colour blind people, but is this really necessary?

Just more political correctness.

I don't intend to offend some of you who have colour blindness, but it's been like this forever.

I think you might be confused as to what political correctness is.

'We never used to have ramps instead of stairs to help wheelchair users. IT'S PC GONE MAD'.

Would it harm you if say, Ireland wore their white away kit when playing Wales? No, it wouldn't.

Would it help colour blind people? Yes, it would.

You're dangerously close to sounding like a Stewart Lee joke.

Just reflects the genuinely staggering lack of empathy in the country at the moment, only have to look at reactions to the cut to the £20 Universal Credit uplift at the Tory conference - really depressing state of affairs all round

Exactly this..

It's the same with people getting in a tiz about having to wear a mask in a shop.

The only reason they do is because it helps others and not themselves.

Never met or known of anybody with actual colour blindness to the point where its an actual issue in distinguishing actual completely different colours. Think it's a myth. So yeah, ave that.

It’s sometimes a problem for me on the telly whereby I genuinely cannot tell the teams apart

Strangely I can’t recall it being a problem at a live game

but given the number of kits that teams have in the top two divisions, it really shouldn’t be a problem for them to work it out so that it’s never a problem

there are different types of CB so just saying red/green/brown should be avoided isn’t going to work for everyone.

its nothing to with PC or woke etc etc -  it’s just common sense and with the addition of third kits it’s now something that can be easily addressed

It's not something that had crossed my mind because it doesn't effect me, but now it's been raised and when I think about it, I'm surprised it's taken this long to consider - especially with the sport being so popular on TV.

I think it's a brilliant idea and I really don't understand why anyone would get annoyed by it.

All that matters is that you can tell the difference between pink and brown.........

It’s all part of being an open and none exclusive society. You can’t just amend something for one group and not another.

It’s a kit colour, so it really isn’t a huge issue to take into account those people with impairments, and that a certain kit colour might negatively impact their experience to be part of something, it’s what we’re striving for as a race now isn’t it?

My mate is colour blind, he often comments on not being able to see things properly on the TV when watching sport, and it is usually things that can be altered like kits etc.

I can’t see it from his point of view because I’m not colour blind, but the fact he has mentioned it must mean it potentially diminishes his ability to watch the game.

It’s more TV than live, perhaps some tech genius somewhere could create a filter?

In short, I’m all for supporting something that ensures all can take part together, regardless of any ailments they have.

This is actually a good suggestion if possible because they can change the advertising boards according to the country you are viewing from so this might be possible as well

What a weird thread. I'd just like to echo what others said about anyone opposed to this being a thick c0ck and so on...

Imagine getting upset about a simple change being made to help the colourblind.... And then having the gall to call other people snowflakes. lol

It's not even political correctness. That phrase literally doesn't even apply here, it doesn't make any sense. Not only do you have to be a dickhead to have a problem with it, you've got to be a thick dickhead to think it's anything "woke" or "PC".

It's nothing to do with anyone's feelings (except apparently their easily triggered ones?) it's just about physical accessibility.

I couldn’t agree more, people have disabilities and if we can accommodate without spoiling things we should.

I propose we disband every team that plays in red and abolish every achievement they’ve ever had, as they’ve been cheating for centuries.

Bloody camouflaging with the grass on the sly.

I’m colourblind, specifically red deficient.

The way I see colour has a few impacts on me as a spectator, though rarely horrible any more, but red and black or red and grey are basically indistinguishable at speed. Worse if playing a video game than watching real sport.

Playing sport, it definitely has an impact on me. Far fewer ‘change’ options at lower level, and colourblindness is much worse in peripheral vision or at speed, so I really struggled at university when playing football in maroon-it’s the same colour as pretty much everything dark from the corner of my eye. Was also buggered for cricket-just can’t pick out a red ball.

I don’t have enormously strong views on this as a spectator, because you can usually work it out, but there will be an amazing kid in the academy who keeps playing through balls to the centre back and doesn’t know why…

My main reason for supporting it is that we are repeatedly sold 2nd and 3rd kits, ostensibly just to avoid kit clashes. Why would we not do it?
