To get Barnes especially, and Lookman in the side you need to change the shape.

We are better to use this game to switch back to a 4 and use as an exercise in being flexible.

The 352 is not very favourable for the bench we have without trying to slot players in unnatural positions hence why we haven’t seen these 2 players for a few games.

Anyone know if this game will be broadcast anywhere? I cant find anything, which is worrying.

It will be by the looks of it. I've just checked ESPN+ schedule for the US broadcast and it's listed there, so we'll have a full OB unit filming the match, as opposed to Millwall.

We were trying to get some confidence and momentum from our 1st team.

He'll probably argue that we are now trying to keep that momentum going.

Don't get me wrong, I doubt Vardy and Evans will play, but I have a feeling he won't make as many changes as being suggested in here.

It's starting to feel like a season wasted. I hope we're looking at getting him out on loan again in January he needs to be playing at his age.

Not necessarily, we could go 3-4-3 which may well happen given Perez looked to be struggling and Maddison won't be risked.

he was proper rubbish against Warsaw tbf, as Brendan said yesterday if you don't play well, you don't play....

Agreed that he could probably do with a loan, but leaves us pretty short in midfield

I'd like to see KDH given match time since we'll be missing a midfielder once Youri leaves. (I'd be shocked if he stays after delaying and delaying and delaying contract signing and clearly being a cut above) The league and FA cup seems ideal for KDH since we should be focusing on the prem and europa. And yeah loaning him to a struggling Prem side if poss in Jan seems a good move.

Does anybody know why all of Block G2 and half of Block G1 are 'off sale' for this match? We took up our usual seats in G1 and the whole block was available but since then the other half and the whole of the block next door are unavailable.

Seems a strange place if its simply to not have the whole stadium open.

Scrub that comment. They are back open and on sale again. Club must have heard me

Yeah, as it stands we don't have any academy players in our starting XI and yet we're striving to play in Europe year on year where you have to have 4 over the age of 21 in the 25 man squad. It's a balance, if we don't play them, they'll leave and then we'll be restricted in our squad picks. This is why I waffle on and on about serious investment in to our academy, we need to be producing better players and more of them to maintain our seat at the top table.

It's a shame, especially since ideally we would be in a position to just play the second team in the Europa League back half, but dropped points against Napoli and Warsaw mean we can't. The change of shape -- in of itself not a bad thing, but given the necessity of playing the strongest side in every competition (bar league cup), means we can't shift around as much -- means that even Barnes isn't getting a whiff, let alone KDH and Hamza.

At the same time, it is October, games, injuries, and suspensions will soon start piling in. In the past, Rodgers has been able to throw in the benchwarmers in the second third of the season to good effect. And frankly, when we get JJ, Ndidi and Fofana back, I can see him going back to tinkering, using 4-1-4-1, diamonds, and all sorts of things. I expect KDH to get game time if he is good enough. However, I expect Hamza to possibly be gone in January (and probably Mendy and Benko, for that matter. We just don't have the squad space.)

As an aside, I noticed on Friday that Nelson, Benko, and Mendy started for the U23's. Hopefully, that wasn't to get the spine ready for Wednesday.

THE referee for Albion's cup tie against Leicester City has been announced as Jarred Gillett.

The Seagulls will be looking to bounce back from their Premier League defeat to Manchester City with a Carabao Cup trip to the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.

The man in the middle taking charge of the match, Jarred Gillett, has never officiated a game of either side. While the Australian official has refereed games in the Championship, he has only recently been entrusted with top-flight games.

In June this year, the 34-year-old was selected to be promoted to the Select Group one, allowing him to officiate Premier League games from the 2021–22 Premier League season onwards.

Gillett became the first non-British or Irish referee to referee a Premier League match when he took charge of the 1–1 draw between Watford and Newcastle United in September, his only top-flight game to date.

Graham Potter and his team will be hoping his team does not do anything stupid in the match to give Gillett a difficult decision to make.

The other officials for the match are Neil Davies and Mark Scholes, and the fourth official will be Martin Atkinson.

He would be wrong to "tinker" no matter who is available. If a system is proven to be effective , particularly defensively, you stick to it. Those players who miss out will have to rely on rotation or injury to get their chance.

Yes, but if Fofana comes back in form, and Cags sees a sports psychologist, and Evans gets a good pair of orthopedic shoes, four at the back might not be suicidal again. The Manager wants a 4-1-4-1, but hasn't been able to force it quite yet.

Oh god no, this guy has been appalling as VAR, no reason to believe he will be any better as an actual ref - although he did actually screw Brighton over at the start of the season

Didn't give a foul by Tarkowski for Burnleys goal vs Brighton

Dan James got absolutely bodied and he didn't give a pen

Disallowed this goal by Sokratis because Chambers was fouled by 3 different players (but said Chambers fouled a Palace player)

Just need to look through this Reddit thread to see how poorly rated he was even in the Championship

This or the Europa League is what we should be aiming at. Vardy & Schmeichel have a full set should we get the League Cup back. EL gets us straight into the Champions League, plus it's a great prestigious Tournament in its own right.

Also the 3rd anniversary of Khun Vichai's death. Certain it'll be respected/observed appropriately.
