I agree 40k too small. A lot of clubs going towards 50 k or more

I don't think they've actually confirmed the capacity, just the vague figure of an additional 8-10k seats. But not forgetting the expansion allows for further development of the North and South Stands.

Will the TV cameras be reversed to face the new stand? Or will the West stand still be classed as the main stand with the tunnel and dugouts?

Would be a shame not to see the east wing in its full glory on the telly.

So, in summary, still no news.

Not entirely. We now know that it's not planning issues delaying the start. Up to the club to decide on timings.

Probably too much to ask those in King Power Towers to give us an update. Anything, even just a hint, would be nice.

"bigger club"?!! Taking the capacity up to 40K odd will hardly do that.

This should have been done immediately after our 2016 success.

There are a plethora of clubs in the 28-32k bracket, we're not seen as anything more than another Stoke or Norwich. There aren't so many in the next bracket up of Leeds, Sheff Wed, Villa, Everton where that capacity puts us.

We got relegated, that's the update.

It's probably right to communicate a concrete strategy, timings, capacity, disruption. If they aren't there yet, then there is no point in chucking feed to the fish.

A sensible option would be in a cpl of months as we will know more in Feb how likely we are to go up in auto's rather than the playoffs. I don't think the expansion hinges on us going up, but I can't see them starting it unless we do.

Not if it easier for the youth to access the game

Or anyone like me, who has been desperate for tickets for years but hasn't had a hope outside of the cups

From the last conversations with the club, they basically said it's about finding the right time to hit the go button. Things that are considered are current high material costs (but inflation is starting to drop) and the fact we had just been relegated. So considering those factors, and assuming we don't collapse and fail to get promoted, starting as soon as possible would be prudent.

Agreed, but until there is that decision I don't think the club need to communicate anything.

The wrong slant on any comms can cause more panic/confusion/excitement than the intention, less is more in the most successful businesses, we aren't a PLC.

I wasn't saying they need to communicate now, I agree, no point giving an update that doesn't really give an update. Was just giving a bit of background as to why they haven't started yet. These conversations were from around September.

Should be 45k

remember, this is only one stand we are upgrading. There can be a time and a place for others. Family stand looks ripe for an upgrade at some point…

I'm probably dreaming but if club made accessing tickets on the day easier, you may get more people willing to create a better atmosphere

100% agree.

Its also possible that during consultations with the local council some concerns may have been shared as to where the local transport/ infrastructure can cope with 50,000 piling out of the King Power all at the same time. I just believe it will be a phased project and with further stabilization of prem footy ( and proof the current expansion project works) , we'll expand further.
