I always said I never thought this was an actual thing.  Just a little bone to throw to the fans.  It's never looked or felt like a genuine proposal to me.  All the extra bits just seemed thrown in to try and delay/eventually cancel the project.

The sad reality is that the club had a GENERATIONAL opportunity to turn us in to one of the countries elite clubs and possibly one of the biggest hipster clubs in the world because of our story.

That opportunity has been completely pissed up the wall and we are going back to exactly where we started.

The only hope we have is King Power putting us up for sale while the memory of our glory is relatively fresh.  Hopefully that will attract a big fish who can right Top's wrongs.

I don't think the club would've spent millions on architects and planning etc if it wasn't an actual thing. They we're also serious enough to purchase the additional EON land.

Covid killed the momentum and it's never recovered. The entire set up needs a dose of enthusiasm from somewhere.

As many have said the stadium will soon be the new filbert street, we cant stand still, I have the opinion the expansion is not ambitious enough, but its crazy to not do it at all.

It's also only going to get more expensive the longer we wait.

Sadly cant see Top doing it.

What is wanna know is. Why have other team been able to do there plans and build or start to build before we have even done anything with our plans.

Why have other teams been able to sign players who aren't a complete sack of shite on ridiculous wages and we haven't? The answer will be very similar.

Doesn’t planning permission expire?

must be close to the expiry now.

The decision date was 14/12/2023 and they have 5 years from that date to start

I think they should expand it now regardless. We could wait forever.Expand now to give the club and the fans a boost. There is no reason why we can’t have a good start to next season and the fans will start coming back. Its a positive move forward imo.

Surely we should now be scaling down the number of seats in the KP?

We can get rid of the front row in the directors box, he's hardly ever here!

Tbf, Leeds is a big ‘one club city’ - possibly the largest in the country

they’ll pull in 45/50k comfortably

a good 10k  more than us even if both clubs are in the PL

Plus Leeds need to do it as Elland Road is tired. Like Forest have to replace that shed.

The KP doesn’t need to be done, it would just be nice. And would cost tens of millions for not an awful lot back.

I don't think Top can give you lot any more of a reality check.

It's not happening full stop.

We are a memorial and he's not going to put the time, effort or money in.

It's quite clear

This has crossed my mind.

The money he dropped in was equity conversion, which in theory, he’d get back. As long as we are at a similar level.

Shame our owner doesn’t share the same ambition

Dunno. Personally I think the Birmingham owner's have OTT. They overpaid on a piece of land by over £1 million to secure it. If it's anything like the Americans as well, they will leverage as much debt off the football club as possible. There's ambition and then there's daft

I dunno they could spend several million on planning to build a new stand . Now that would be daft 👀

The thinking behind Birmingham City's new 60k stadium and Sports Centre

Love the ambition, but 60,000?  I don't know if it will be 60,000 or it could to be expanded to that?, but given Birmingham have never come close to averaging 60,000 even back in the day when they could get those attendances at the stadium it seems too high.  I could see them pushing 40,000 in the premier league.

I hope it happens though, the midlands lacks any major new stadiums.

We've  no ambition or path to follow and that's the problem. The present  board have no new fresh ideas that's why we need a change that's why we're getting  get left behind .

Football attendances have exploded pretty much across all the leagues. Essentially there's no such thing as a stadium too big, only tickets that aren't cheap enough.

If Sunderland with a 275k urban area can average 38k in the championship and Derby (250k ish) can average 29k most clubs can add another 10k fairly easily. This is where the zealous safetyism in Britain has completely hampered safe standing. Clubs could quite easily expand the capacity through rail seating but the Government/SSAG shat the bed at even a 1:1.4 ratio

Birmingham showing ambition or lunacy, St Andrews is just shy of 30k yes you could get another 10k supporters but another 30k?
Also 5yr plan to have this state of the art complex up & running, in the past 10yrs (since our Prem title win) BHM have not been higher than 17th in the Championship finally succumbing to the drop to Lge 1 last season, yes they are now going straight back up into the championship but the previous 10yrs doesn't suggest they will be lighting it up anytime soon. Awfully big risk to try & put down bigger roots when their position in the league isn't a great 1 & they won't be getting any help from the council to prop up any shortfall in funding not in the state they are in themselves.

Birmingham couldn't fill 40k in the Prem.

Struggled to fill it last time they were there and they never filled it on European nights.

With Villa performing and Blues new investment it may surprise a few but BCFC has massive potential - huge catchment and could easily attract 50k maybe the 60k especially back in the prem - it will regenerate the whole area where the land is and watch them invest pre-season - sleeping giant - we will and are being firmly left behind.
