I'm not having any of this "the players look knackered" etc.   Complete load of tosh.  

 

The players are bored and pissed off that's what it is.  Being asked to play week in week out with tactics that get us win occasionally if we are lucky.

 

They are better than this and no mistake, they just have a manager at the helm who in a nutshell, is not as good as he thinks he is, and isn't as good as people here thinks he is.

 

I would say Rodgers needs to have a serious look at himself and the way he sets out to play games.  But the answer is, he won't.  He will carry on and if anyone queried him on it he would point to the odd game in 10 where it did work, ignoring the 9 where it didn't.

 

I'm not saying we deserve to be higher than we are, no team has that right, but we deserve for them to play better, and that's solely down to the manager.

First half was one of our better halves of football this season in my opinion (and even then we're a little fortunate to not go in 2-1 down). Second half was a shambles though and ultimately we deserved to lose. Defence is woeful.

I love it when Kasper and defenders congratulate each other when they break up an attack and concede a corner.  A corner is a bloody goal 60% of the time

Naive defending from set plays, lack of leadership and aggression at the back. Maybe losing Morgan around the Club has had an unforeseen effect.

 

Villa aren't anything special, we were much the better team in the first half; Barnes, Madders, Thomas and KDH causing all sorts of problems for Villa, Cash was flustered and we go in 1-1 because of more piss weak defending. Second half shight goal conceded again, we take ages to get Lookman off and we just can't get it together infront of goal. The look on Kasper's face most of the time of gone-outness, high eyebrows, he's a very confident lad and knows everything about the Club but I'm just not sure he's Captain material.

 

Weight falls on Rodgers again. Slow to make changes, not solving our problems.

 

It was a good game for the neutral though, just a shame we still aren't anywhere near our best and confidence is clearly fragile.

Somewhere in the middle. But I see a team what has no problem going forward and doing the legwork associated with that. Yet little workrate when tracking back. Before that corner from their second , our midfield was an utter cluster****. Their first also came from Lookman with a silly foul

Failure to progress in the Europa League on Thursday and the search will begin for a new coach. The fact that Rodgers seems incapable of sorting out defensive issues that have been glaringly apparent for so long beggars belief. If our zonal defence is so poor, change it. Go man-for-man, it can't be any worse. Is the man a complete idiot or just plain stubborn? Surely it has to be the latter.
