Crumbs reading this is very depressing, most suggesting we will be a bottom half Premiership or championship team yet everyone gets very touchy if it’s mentioned that the 3 seasons in the sun was us over achieving

Over achieving assumes the squad wasn't as good as it finished.

Which isn't true.

Pereira was one of the best right backs in the league

Vardy was a golden boot winner

Tielemans is one of the best midfielders in the league.

Ndidi was one of if not the best cdms.

Evans and Soyuncu had the least goals conceded this time 2 years ago.

Even if you look at xg last year we had the 7th best attacking xg and 3rd best defensive xg.

The club is doing better than what it historically has but to say the players aren't good enough to get into the top 6 is just a lie.

For example when Newcastle finished 5th and then did shit the next season, their xg and stats in the season they finished 5th was woeful thats obvious over achivement. So the next season they dropped off.

A mid table club.

Problem is I don't see the club replacing Tielemans or Ndidi and without them we dont score enough because Ndidi allows us to attack so much more and Tielemans allows us to create so much more. Meaning teams will just play low block and double up and Daka and it will be Puel and us getting 9th place finishes all over again.

Ndidi Tielemans Fofana and Justin. Will have left 2 years in max.

We will probably have sorted out the CB issue. Bought Tarkowski as a stop gap for Ben Nelson to develop.

Have Maddison still not finding consistent good form. Will start to fade in his late 20s when he realises he probably won't ever get back into the England squad.

Daka will still be here getting 13 to 16 goals a season will be in the Zaha zone where he is too good for mid table but not good enough for the big teams to actively pursue him. He will have the talent but since he would be our only real attacking threat he will be double marked and will never get the chance to shine.

Will have Soumare knocking about being a jonjoe Shelvey level midfielder that has the occasional world class performance that has everyone dreaming.

We will have a Mendy level player at CDM.

We will focus more on developing acedemy talent since the big clubs will have put their act together when it comes to scouting by then.

And you join us here at the Big Blue Blister in Leicester, sponsored by Asda, as Leicester City kick off their defence of their Champions League title.

Brendan Rodgers has been in the hot seat for 8 years, now.  He had a rough patch 5 years ago, and would you believe that there were some fans calling for him to go (Wow. I know), but the club turned it around for a miracle second half of the season after the club took the decision to swap the Kop and the Family Stand.

Joint Prime Ministers Ant n Dec are in the stands, and many of the fans have come direct from the large Cannabis Café on Welford Road, with a gentle but hungry disposition, after the 'bis was legalised in 2023 under interim Prime Minister, the late and much missed Richard Madeley.

Anyway, it's on with the match.

AND IT'S LIVE....

I was fairly convinced you were from the future until you failed to mention the Monorail station at the back of the North Stand.

But it’s the same players and manager that aren’t cutting it now so they did over achieve personally if it’s a 1 off career best so to speak & the club over achieved collectively in that nobody expected Leicester to be where they were or perform as they did, the very definition of over achieving.

I don’t see it as an insult

No because if you look at attacking statistics we are still very good in attack.

We have the 6th most goals in the league. So that rules out the creative and attacking players.

Ndidi has the 5th most tackles in the league which means he is still winning the ball back for us.

Meaning we have to look at the defence.

The only player I think over achieved was Soyuncu. He always was rash but had his pace make up for lack of defence iq. In general the type of defender that allows players to get into the position where they need to use pace or a last ditch tackle to stop them is a bad defender.

Evans has aged and the injuries have taken their toll on him.

Pereira never came back the same player from Injury. Remember against Norwich wher he tried using a burst of pace for the assist did it successfully but then got injured.

We never replaced Chilwell with someone who was natural on the left side and actually a half decent footballer.

As a result our defence has become terrible. Fofana is out along with Justin. Justin being on a long term injury meaning he could never come back the same player as with Pereira.

Imo managers are overrated anyway. I genuinely never thought Rodgers had too much to do with our success. Puel was obessed with 2 CDMs which Rodgers got rid off. As well as Rodgers being a better man manager is the only credit I will give him when it comes to our success.

Its always been the quality on the pitch thats taken us there. If you want to credit any of the back room staff credit the scouting team.

Just qualified for champions league knockout stages and sitting pretty in top three of the premiership. In the quarter finals of the league cup going for successive Wembley final wins. Fofana just won the balon d’or. A first for an English club defender. Manager james Vardy touted as next England manager but dampens  speculation in press interview. Why leave?

Bedtime.

I know its borderline reactionary but where do you think we'll be in 5 years time?

At the start of the season I would have guessed a regular top 10 team that would dip in and out of the top 6 and maybe top 4. Now I'm thinking we'll lose our best players soon and not have the ability to replace them and will end up as a glorified Southampton; not crap enough to get relegated but not good enough to challenge for europe.

It would take a lot of bad outcomes in a row to see us relegated in the next few years but obviously not impossible.

In the UEFA Europa Southern Football League Central.

If Brendan is still in charge...

As Sean Dyche wins his first premier league title with Man City, we'll be fighting it out for promotion back to the big boys league.

Blocking our path will be Frank Lampard's Lincoln, Steven Gerrard's Barnsley and Cristiano Ronaldo's Wolves. Wolves had been 15 points clear, but were docked 25 points for fielding a non Portuguese player against Hull.

Daka has scored 50 goals in 24 games offsetting our defensive record of 50 goals conceded.

Oh, and Kasper has broken the football league record for passes belted straight out of play. On the plus side, two of his mishit clearances to the left back sailed into the oppositions net and he is the clubs 2nd highest scorer.

If we sack Rodgers now, appoint a new manager then sack him after a bad spell, appoint a new manager then sack...]

We'll be in the Championship.
