I still think Under was a huge mistake. We made a big fuss about signing Soyuncu’s childhood mate, then didn’t play him, Heskey even said in an interview he was puzzled why he was brought in, then sent back to Roma. Our Turkish fans mentioned, and I find it hard not to disagree, that this must have negatively affected Soyuncu. At least Vester filled a gap at short notice, and Perez played and won medals, and Bertrand had no transfer fee; Under is still the strangest signing for me.

There’s no question it was a major gaffe .

We worked out quickly that he wouldn’t cut it in the prem . It was reported that Roma only wanted a sale not a loan so we saved a bundle there but it still cost the club plenty

I think all potential new signings should be subject to a FT Poll.  I say this because FT never ever lets facts cloud opinions or judgements. The obligatory YouTube highlights video plus members' experiences of the said player on 'FIFA', will cut out the chances of signing absolute Turds that cannot be flushed away.

Don’t forget the detailed research conducted on the player’s former club website  to see if their fans think he’s shite and are laughing at us .

U23 scout role or U23 head coach role? I know the latter is free?

The problem I have with his signings, is that the bad ones are clearly a result of Congerton/Rodgers impact, as the likes of Vestegaard and Bertrand specifically, are a complete contrast to our usual recruitment.

Justin, for example, is the type of signing we have made for years....And Fofana is a further example of our excellent scouting in France that unearthed Kante and Mahrez. Sure, the fee was higher, but I think that's more to do with us now being able to purchase players in that price bracket. Daka too, has been linked as a 'Vardy replacement' for a long long time now.

Rodgers's arrogance and ego with transfers hasn't helped the perception of Congerton though.

You have decided who has made those transfers yourself. And you’ve said the bad ones are a result of Rodgers/Congerton but then given them no credit for the good ones?

Michael Edwards and Paul Mitchell are both Sporting Directors I believe, feels like head of senior recruitment would be a step down?

Yeah we either need a previous DOF who's had enough of that and wants to get back to their bread and butter or a head scout, the geezer at RB Salzburg would do Johann Eder.

Marcel Brands? Everton fans happy to see the back of him, on their forum they say he didn't do anything but collect a big fat salary, was clueless about scouting for a EPL club and you want him here!

Unless we’re setting up that position— not saying we’re getting Edwards but it makes sense for us to restructure under a sporting director. This will help us set up our recruitment and youth development to more seamlessly fill in gaps when we’re dealing with injuries or the inevitable transition that occurs every few years.

Someone with in depth knowledge of the French, Portuguese, Belgium and Dutch Leagues etc, which is where a lot of the best young talent in Europe can be found before they get mopped up by the rich leagues and prices rocket.
