5* skills, 5* weak foot. Be an amazing signing. If we were playing Fifa in 2021 and not real football in 2025.

EXCLUSIVE VCF |  The center forward that has ALMOST SECURED IS… The Zambian from Leicester City, PATSON DAKA. The club has been negotiating his signing since the weekend. FACT: same representation agency as Ugrinic, Tárrega, Pepelu, and Cömert.

It is a worry that Leicester are getting linked to a few free agents and couldn't find £3m or so for Kone. I think thoughts of losing BEK for £30m and then buying say 3 players for £10m each just isn't going to happen

It is a worry. The amount of money that’s comes into club over the last 10 years, acknowledging we’ve overpaid wages massively, something just feels off to me.

We literally cannot sell him. We only have Ayew and even he’s not a proper no.9

We absolutely need to sell Patson Daka. Wages to ability for this season it’s a no brainer.

But we would need to bring in 2 strikers you would say.

It says "FACT" so clearly just be true! I have no doubts whatsoever.

So, if this is to be believed (and I do), we're only looking at Loans & Free Transfers, this window. All incoming funds will be directed to wages and satisfying PSR. That would curtail any further interest in many of the players we've been linked with (eg Kone, even though he was available for less than £5m).

One possibility that might happen then, Brownhill - on a Free, but with biggish wages.

I see this as the way things will be going this window. Clearly, MC won't have any significant funds for buys, but at least there are a few decent potential (PL) Loans and Free's (and I agree, that it does allow for Brownhill to come - there could be money for biggish wages).

We cannot keep underperforming players at those wages. Sell and rebuild the squad, even if it takes a couple of seasons in the Championship.

There's a good chance this window is the last one we won't be under an embargo and won't be able to pay for any transfer fee for a while.

What makes you say that?

If that's the case then its more important to try and move on those on high wages and not those we can get a good fee for.

Sounds like were under a self imposed transfer embargo

What makes you say that?

This is not from any information I've been given, but based on some possibilities.

We are being told we need to sell a significant amount of players, which is understandable given the size of the squad, the amount of players out of contract next summer and the drop in revenue from relegation. However the latter one is a potential problem for us to comply with PSR for 25/26, which if is a real risk we can also presume 24/25 was as well and yet we did not sell a player/s before the end of June in order to mitigate that.

So my logic is, if we were OK for 24/25 without player sales in June, we ought to not face too big a headache for 25/26 with the sales we have had so far, the drop in wages and with a handful of other departures I'd expect at least an average Championship budget available. But we are being geared up for no transfer fees being paid out, which may suggest something.

If we have indeed breached for 24/25 then we will also be asked to provide a business plan on how we will attempt to comply for 25/26 and if it is not abundantly clear then a transfer embargo will be applied, likely by the January window. That is then a slippery slope to be on.

My other potential logical explanation for all of this is optics. We have been charged with a breach for 23/24. We have seemingly pissed both the PL and the EFL off in recent years and failing to submit our accounts on time has once again potentially aggravated this. So we are choosing now to go on the charm offensive. Point to minimal spending since the breach as evidence of the severity in which we are taking this situation and that we are proving it is impossible for clubs like us and the situation we ended up in.

If the Fatawu, Bilal news didn’t come out yesterday, the Daka sale would be welcome. Even with that news, it should be welcomed. Daka has needed to be sold for about two years. He needs a fresh start and so do we. It hasn’t worked. This is good news.

Complete consiparacy theory here, based on nothing but my own head.

Top is done, KP are a mess and he wants to sell, so he’s reducing our costs dramatically to appease buyers. He will sell anyone we get an offer for and we will only bring in frees and loans.

Radio silence from the top will be broken after transfer window to explain why he had to do this (will waffle on about sustainability etc etc)

Marti has been brought in to work with the academy players and whoever’s left.

Easy to say in hindsight, but everyone on these boards was encouraging the club to take the gamble at the time and dreaming of permanently challenging the traditional status quo.

Ultimately, I think whatever was done (take the risk and try and keep the band together while adding a new bass player or appreciate your one hit wonder and accept that your lead singer and guitarist are going and you’ll go back to playing the local clubs like you used to) a similar sort of fall out that we have now would have happened.

Taking a risk isn’t paying over inflated fees and bloated contracts to absolute dog muck like Soumare, Daka, Vestergaard, Bertrand, Skipp, BDCR, Edouard, Coady, Winks etc etc

When we were buying players like Maddison, Tielemans, Ricardo, Maguire, Fofana then I agree we had a successful model and it worked, but we moved away from that model, however we appear to have continued to offer ridiculous contracts and transfer fees for a lower calibre of player.

Our recruitment of young hungry players continues to be pretty good, Fatawu, BEK and Okoli show we continue to use this market well, but it’s the established level players where our recruitment is horrific.

I’d rather have no striker than Daka, we can get in literally anyone who can do what he does. Run beyond, give the ball away, put the ball into orbit and smile (doesn't even do that anymore)
