Immense today. Asked to play in an unfamiliar role but Showed passion and played for the shirt. Some great tackles and good awareness. Maybe he has found a new niche as the next big Dan.

I mean as CB. That, I believe, is the first time he's played CB.

I think Rodgers has largely binned the high line defending and that has meant Ndidi, Amartey and now Hamza can defend properly without the fear of being turned. The greatest defender in football history Franco Baresi would have been horrified by that tactic , he and Costacurta never pushed up far. Even big Jan will be far happier now.

I actually think that his team mates done him no favours at times today. A few times he was put under unnecessary pressure, getting passed the ball when Watford were pressing and expecting him to pass his way out when it would have been easier for them to whack it forward.

If he can get more confidence in the air he could really play centre back moving forwards.

He has the attributes for it. I think one of his weakness can be covered that as a CB you see the whole game in front of you

Must admit when I saw him playing at the back, I thought he could be a red card waiting to happen, but was glad to be proved wrong.

How many times has he actually been sent off for us? Seems to be a common assumption that he is a waking red card but I can’t remember him being sent off too many times?

He can be reckless at times with his challenges and other reams players at times do seem to target him in the hope of getting him sent off

It's like he's a proper CB but because he's taken risks in the past and has a glorious afro, whoever's coached him has thought put him further forward as a defensive mid, where the risk taking doesn't get punished as much.

Just needs some more focus on this "new" position in training and we can sell him Man U for 70mil in summer.

Agree. He would get bullied in the air against the likes of DCL, Benteke, Ronaldo.

Watford were really poor. I'd worry about him against better opposition. But then Hamza was a highlight of the match despite a few lapses. Really happy for the lad.

Watford were poor, but it was a good runout for him to get used to the position. Rather he have this game under his belt than play CB for the first time in the PL.
