Interesting if selling wood means they can't hit the quota....

Might be willing to let tarkowski go too if it gives them a chance to postpone a week and buy them an extra week in the window 🤣

Interesting that it’s now in their interest to get this off.

You can't change half way through the season.  Burnley have already had 3 games called off because the opponents wanted to wait until they had a stronger squad.  It wouldn't be fair now to change the rules so that we have to play our matches, possibly including those matches against Watford, Villa and Everton, with loads of players missing.

Last Saturday Burnley had 12 outfield players available, one of which (Wood) appears to have been sold since.  Watch this space for this weekend.

Who was missing from your squad? The website I use says you currently have 5 outfield players missing and 1 of those is Wood.

I would be surprised (and disappointed) if we wanted to call it off. All the noise was that we'd be ready for this one.

We can't keep requesting matches to be off. If other teams do it we can't control that but I'd hope we're doing all we can.

If its off this weekend it'll be Burnley's covid cases and not us. I believe we'll have at least 13 available. Some quick turnaround for a few that were out last week.

I'm fully in the camp of under 23 players should be used when a club can't field a team with senior players. It certainly isn't ideal but better than postponement after postponement.

It's a different kettle of fish but I fully enjoyed seeing the youth getting a chance in the FA Cup.

You might not have enjoyed it so much if we’d got tonked

I’d like to think as well if we needed to field 1 or 2 academy lads we’d do it.

Yeah, according to the premierinjuries.com website the other 4 missing were Ashley Barnes (who has hardly featured this season anyway), Connor Roberts (again, he's hardly featured), Cornet and Gudmundsson who the website says has a 50% chance of being fit on Saturday. So unless Burnley have suddenly got a host of players out with injuries and illnesses they should be good to go. They surely have more than 17 first team squad players?

Who is going to be back for us.

Soumare I guess.

Castage will depend on whether we can keep the blood out of his leg going by what Brendan said the other day.

Who are the others most likely to make it.  Vardy, Ricardo, Evans definite nos plus the Afcon guys. Can't see JJ being risked for this one.

Best let some through, no?

Well that's what I thought but the quote was something along the lines of the blood keep going back into the leg which appears to be a problem. I'm no medical man but I always though blood was quite important.

The players potentially back are: Cags, Thomas, Soumaré, KDH, Daka and Castagne.

I'll be fuming if it's off and I don't even see how we'll manage it. That'll mean it's another three midweek games (due to Chelsea as well now) on top of potentially Europe. Wouldn't be one bit surprised if we totally sack Europe off. Not saying that's what I'd do but wouldn't be surprised either.

Just play them now. They're in a dire situation themselves having just lost Chris Wood. We haven't looked any worse for our absentees. Hardly like we've bothered doing any defending all season anyway.

I’m not sure you’d feel the same if we had 2-3 90mins of young lads getting smashed and chasing games.

Not fair on them to suddenly Chuck them in at the deep end in terribly weakened sides. It’s one thing doing it against a crap Watford team in the cup, another thing doing it in the league.

Last weekend, fit players were:

Defence - Lowton, Bardsley, Mee, Tarkoski, Long

Midfield - Cork, Stephens, Brownhill, Lennon, Westwood

Attack - Rodriguez, Wood (now leaving).

Unavailable players were:

Defence - Taylor, Pieters, Roberts, Collins.

Midfield - Gudmondsson, McNeil

Attack - Vardy, Barnes, Cornet (Africa)

They're the 21 (now 20) senior outfield players.

....conversely they could relish the idea!!!

They have probably been dreaming of this situation happening, as how else were they going to get the opportunity, to play in the first team.

Vardy doesn't play for Burnley if I remember correctly

If it gets called off its most likely to be at Burnley request. LCFC will be blamed, obviously, by TalkSport.

Weren't some of those "unavailable" players rested because it was a Cup match? There's nothing about Taylor,  Peters, Collins, McNeil or Vydra being injured on the website that I use.
