A very difficult game. We need a response after tonight. Brighton will be licking their lips and no doubt will be confident at getting a result against us.

Who the fvck plays at the back?

Schmeichel

Albrighton Amartey Choudhury Thomas

Tielemans Soumare KDH

Maddison

Daka Lookman

Genuinely cannot believe it's come to thinking that's the defence to go with yet here we are. Soyuncu and Vestergaard need to be put out their misery. Even if it totally backfires, well you can't say the others would've done better.

Yep that's the side I'd prob go with with the proviso that Justin comes on immediately if Albrighton is as weak as he normally is at rb. Playing either soyuncu or vestergaard effectively gives any opposition a 2 goal lead from the off and therefore they shouldn't play again for a significant period of time.

Yet we were never two goals behind tonight. Over reaction central lol

We’ve got to play Justin. He looked absolutely fine tonight.

Kasper

JJ Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

Tielemans KDH

Barnes Maddison Lookman

Daka

I like the look of that team in theory but I think last night proved that we need a defensive minded CM in with that pair to stop us being over run.  Even if it's Chodhury.

has this been mentioned elsewhere - I can’t bring myself to go through the post match thread

playing a defence with vestergaard in it and no CDM is football suicide and last night showed that. Spurs weren’t particularly good in the final third but managed an Xg of 4.5 !!

that’s crazy.  Youri and kdh are not defensive midfielders.  Bouba - I have no idea if he is capable of that role but he seems to lack the concentration for it.  Brendan obviously decided to play ‘basketball’ last night and we ended up on the wrong end although for a minute of some rational thought we would have nicked a win.

square pegs in square holes if at all possible please.

On the plus side if we concede 4.5xG again we should at least get a 0-0 draw.

Albrighton - Amartey - Soyuncu - Thomas

Soumare - KDH

Perez - Maddison - Barnes

Daka

Subs: Ward, Justin, VDC, Nelson, Brunt, McAteer, Tielemans, Lookman

As far away from the king power as is physically possible: Vestergaard.

I'd have Brunt in for Soumare. In one of his games he showed real strength, he went toe to toe with an opposition player for a header and won. We don't do that with this team, and definitely not with Soumare. KDH is solid enough to have a 21 year old next to him, neither are 'youth' and need to be stepping up. Good to give Tielemans a break, physically and mentally.

It was certainly mentioned in the match thread but I'm not too sure about post match. I imagine it would have as it stood out.

I actually said when the lineup was announced that I didn't see it being a back 5 as BR usually likes a DM in the midfield so that's were I thought Hamza would play. I'm not really sure why he decided against that last night but I don't think it would have mattered anyway when Soyuncu and Vestergaard were playing THAT badly...

With Soumare... Who knows what he can do? Until we/he figures out his role and responsibilities in this team, he's going to continue to roam about not really contributing either way. He needs to be told simple set instructions and directives and stick to it. It feels like we are trying to play him as a general allround CM and he doesn't really know how to do that which isn't really fair on him regardless of how poor he's been.
