Well I’m glad my fellow FT members aren’t doing the motivational pre match speeches. The way we threw away the win last night was a killer but we also led the game twice against a side who haven’t lost under their current manager. We were 30 seconds away from being the first side to beat them. That’s the positive you have to take.

We will concede against Brighton but have you seen their attacking play? They hardly ever score which is something we do easily enough so on that basis I think we’ll score more than them. Big Dan is back too which will help. Hopefully we can shift Vestergaard out of the team. Having said that, Syoncu might need taking out too because he was shocking last night also.

Two of the oddest sides in the PL at the moment.

Brighton always look good and never get the results. We look good going forward and awful at the back. Like a pantomime horse with Usain Bolt at the front and Richard Madeley at the back.

Team wise, who knows, so many don't deserve a start but i'd go:

                         Kasper

Albrighton Amartey Soyuncu Thomas

                        Soumare

             Tielemans      KDH

                        Maddison

               Daka           Lookman

I'd have no arguments with dropping Tielemans either for Hamza for a 5-3-2 or for Barnes in a 4-3-3.

Anything other than Vestergaard & Soyuncu. Please don’t play them Brendan.

Schmeichel

Justin, Amartey, Brunt, Thomas

KDH, Soumare, Maddison

Lookman, Daka, Barnes

I'm hoping for some controversial VAR decisions in our favour after the farce at their place. Hope that Harvey doesn't run anywhere near the 6 yard box that might be in the keepers eyeline

...that team looks very good!!!

I think we should now move away from playing a back three, let us not encourage Rodgers to go down that line for the rest of the season, we do not have the personnel to effectively make it work.

I want a reaction. Both to the last minute shambles against Spurs and the +3 goal difference, Brighton got gifted by the refs at their place.

Pre-Match Press Conference vs Brighton

Injuries?

“No, a clean bill of health. James Justin came through really well. Thus far, everyone is okay.”

Amartey?

“Yes, he’s come back, he’s worked today and he’ll be available for the weekend.”

Justin?

“It’s going to take him a period of time to find his level but he is naturally fit and it’s making sure from the strength and his mentality. That was only his fourth game in front of Leicester City supporters, when you think of how long he's been playing. It’s a new experience for him, getting used to these surroundings. We’ll see how he goes, and we’ll manage that through the season.

“He’s a very sensible player, he’s worked ever so hard to get back. It was a nice introduction from the supporters because they know how important he is. We’ll just monitor him.”

Late goals?

“There was a 12-second period that changed the narrative of the game. We were close to a fantastic result, and then we concede the goals. Whenever you lose something that was yours, we fought so hard… We were honest in our debrief. At the end of the game, it’s managing that, that’s something where we still need to improve. This group have shown that they can get up and fight again.”

Won't happen again?

“Hopefully the referee plays the allocated time next time as well, which would be nice.”

Transfers?

“There’s nothing imminent.”

Malang Sarr?

“There’s nothing to say on that.”

Left-footed player?

“Most teams would, if you can get that balance in your team. I’ve said all along that there are not a lot of resources. I’m happy with the players we have. We will get some players back and then we will look at the window in the summer.”

Catching up on games?

“We’re happy with where we’re at. We know we will have to pick up games in the later part of the season and hopefully we will be able to do that.”

Mood in camp?

“The honesty of the team is what I love. The guys gave everything. You see naivety in the team at times. That’s experience. We have had adverse moments during our time together. We’re very open and very analytical about it and that allows you to move. We should have won the game. We’re not trying to blindside anyone. But there’s a great lesson there. Everything is possible and that typified that. We’ve got a goal kick on 94 minutes and 33 seconds, but we make a couple of mistakes in duels and positioning and we lose the game. It will be a lesson that goes with them through their career.”

Dewsbury-Hall?

“He was struggling to move, he had cramp in both of his calves. He had a calf issue. Coming back into the game, he was struggling in his movement, but he has recovered and he feels great. He’ll be fine.”

Amartey?

“He’ll be available for the squad. He played in the week and has had enough recovery time.”

Difficult window?

“Specifically this window after a couple of years of Covid and everything that came with that, the resources aren’t the same. I’ll always work with the players. When there has been money available, the club will do that. If there’s not, we work with the players and that’s fine. There’s a host of us that can’t spend the money we would like. We have players coming back and I’ll keep working with my staff to improve the players.”

Players coming back a factor in transfers?

“We think about who’s coming back, you don’t want to thicken your squad by bringing someone in and then not be able to use them. Wesley is coming back soon and then we will have a few back later. Daniel coming back earlier than expected helps us, not for Ghana, but for us. It eases the burden of feeling like you need to get someone in.”
