If it looks as likely as reports that Youri is on his way out of City I’d take Lingard he’s a quality midfielder who can change games score goals and fill the void if Youri does go ?

Except for the fact they play completely different positions and it solves absolutely nothing

...this is going to be perhaps his last deal!!!

He will not be going to a team that will be challenging for titles and getting the best contract that he could, would be uppermost in his mind, and perhaps a club looking to rebuild and willing to pay what he is looking for serves his purpose.

Go out and enjoy your football, play for a team that wants you and you feel that you can help to push them forward. Why you have to look for finance first and happiness second when you have been so well paid for years, I just do not know.

Think you miss understand me. It’s reported Man Utd are asking for a loan fee which, again if believe reports, Newcastle are stalling over.

so when I say agent talk forces Newcastle to pay what Man Utd want, it’s nothing to do with the player himself

And besides not convinced this will be his last deal if it’s a 6 month Loan, which is what I was referring to

After being sidelined by Utd. , not because of his ability but probably his temperament , he will be looking for a deal that makes him a main man. He would want to be a fixture on the team list. If we did that , Maddison would be the one to suffer. He has, as far as I know , never done Youri's  job.

I don’t think it’s his temperament. I think he wanted to stay and play with Ronaldo. He couldn’t get in the team last year and this year they signed Ronaldo and Sancho.

When he went to West Ham last Jan he gave them a big boost. 16 games 9 goal 4 assists

....after all his time at United, why would he think they would be looking to put him front and centre of their rebuilding!!!

He should have been looking to get the gig at West Ham. If those stats does not prove United under values him, nothing else will.

Avoid. I think there's an attitude problem in there and he's not an upgrade on what we have (imho).

Not sure about that. The guy wants to play.

He was a revelation at West Ham and brilliant for their dressing room as well as England's before he unluckily missed out on a spot at the Euros, and then made it abundantly clear he was right behind the team during the summer.

He might come across as a bit gimmicky and superficial but I think when he's enjoying himself he also has a real positive effect on his teammates.

At 29, there's a risk. But he's been underused for a while and could have miles in his legs yet. He may not get ahead of Maddison in our first XI but could be useful if Madders picks up a knock or if we need someone to link up and keep the ball upfield in situations where we're hanging on to a lead.

A happy Lingard could be a super signing for most PL sides in my opinion.

Absolutely slaughtered when he was linked last time prior to West Ham but he proved people one...

For the same reason I'd been in for Dele Alli as a replacement for Youri...

How does agent talk force a move?

To make Newcastle pay more money as they think they miss out to someone else.

He is obviously a highly skilled player but its about Maddison really , playing both in the same team would be a risky tactic defensively.

....one believes himself to be #8 and the other loves scoring goals, what is not to like!!!

Jimmy might fancy himself as a deeplying midfielder but his defensive work is decidedly limited. Youri does a lot of work in that area.

He wants 200k a week that's why he stayed at Man U to sit on the bench, to run down his contract, West Ham now aren't interested so he's only buyer is Newcastle.

Seems to have p***Ed off Man U and West Ham that's why Man U are playing hardball with him

No thanks, this is Everton territory. Underachieving big club drop-out, huge wage, late in career. He was bob here before. For our current needs he isn't a left footed right winger, Jesse would just be competition for Maddison.

I'm sure I read that they wanted £12m from Newcastle if he went there and they survived relegation

We should do that then and say we will give them £15m if we qualify for the champs league 😉

Folk don’t want the same chap who made a mockery of us last season? He’s had a very disrupted career, he isn’t a bad player at all.

West Ham have made a mockery of us every time for the past couple of seasons, with or without Lingard.

He’s not a bad player, you’re right, but the wrong side of his peak and in a position we’re currently pretty strong in.

Really, really not looking forward to the attempts to replace Youri. It’s pretty much guaranteed to be a step down.

Elif Elmas could replace Youri, but he would cost a lot of money. He could be tempted by the PL but he might not find us attractive enough.

We dont need him BUT given the number of games we could have over the next four months, his presence will allow rotation with madders which means we are able to play every minute of every game with a real no 10 threat …..

Yeah lets spend upwards of 10m on a 29yr old who's only credentials in the last 2 years are a decent loan stint at West Ham for half a season, and who wont get in the team over Maddison.
