moore_94 Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 (edited) CSKA Moscow could be looking to sign Papy before their transfer window shuts on 22nd Feb SOURCE: TRANSFERMARKT.RU CSKA Moscow continues to actively work on signing a defensive midfielder with experience playing at the European level. As it became known to Transfermarkt.ru, the midfielder of the national team of Senegal and Leicester City Nampali Mendy, whom the Red-Blues breeders followed at the African Cup of Nations, got into the field of view of the scouts of the “army men”. As part of the Lions, he became the winner of the recently concluded African Cup, taking part in five of the seven matches of the draw. The player himself does not play a key role in the club of the English Premier League and is ready to change the situation to get playing practice. With the transfer window closed in most European leagues, this could be one of the last chances for cousin Bafetimbi and Luic Gomis to play in one of the top 10 European leagues before the end of the current season. Sell....he's not EPL standard and get some decent money for him 1
Tuna Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 He needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and it's clear he doesn't feature in Rodgers first team plans.

Tielemans63 Posted 10 February 2022 Posted 10 February 2022 Ironically, we might well need him now if Wilf is our second most reliable centre half
Nalis Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Love the guy but half tempted to cash in while his stock is high, particularly if countless Leicester managers arent interested in him.

Vindaloo FOX Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 His stock is high at the moment. Sell him now. 2
Dames Posted 11 February 2022 Posted 11 February 2022 Yeah as if he’s going to sign for a club in a country that is on the brink of war… He’ll be here till the summer and leave on a free.
LCCFox96 Posted 12 February 2022 Posted 12 February 2022 Agree with the comments about Mendy's stock being high right now so this seeming a sensible time to sell. Mendy is a player who could do a job for us no doubt but if we have a Russian club offering decent money then a deal could make sense for us. If we could get £6-8mil for him, then I'd be happy to push on with Ndidi and Hamza and bank the fee for the upcoming summer refresh. If he stays, he stays and I'm sure he'll get some minutes.
RobHawk Posted 12 February 2022 Posted 12 February 2022 Doesn't his contract expire in the summer? If we get anything for him it wouldn't be much regardless how high his stock is. I'd still let him go though, not going to do anything here this season so get what we can and use the young guys if we need to

I doubt the war will affect the lives of people in Russia, especially not footballers.
Clever Fox Posted 17 February 2022 Posted 17 February 2022 He is a good player but Brendan doesn't rate him so better to let him go and get what we can. One Headache sorted before the Summer.

Last season when Wilf was out early on, him and Youri worked quite well together and he rightly got a lot of plaudits from our fanbase. He's never going to be the CM at the heart of a team and with how we play I don't think he really fits anywhere very well, but from what I remember he does a lot of a simple things right and could certainly do a job for a lower half PL team that perhaps plays a flatter 3/5 in Midfield. Hopefully we can find a deal that works for him and brings in some funds for us. 3
moore_94 Posted 21 February 2022 Author Posted 21 February 2022 Looks like CSKA are signing Gbamin from Everton, doubt they will sign both 1

Had a similar start to his time at Everton as Mendy had with us, played a couple of games then had a bad injury and it basically ruined their first season Where as Mendy was able to kind of turn around it, and has played a bit for Nice and us, Gbamin just keeps getting injured Would've thought Mendy would be the more attractive option for CSKA Looks like Mendy will be with us until the summer at least now as doubt they would sign both

Probably a higher ceiling than Mendy. Edited 21 February 2022 by ScrumpyJack
Sly Posted 22 February 2022 Posted 22 February 2022 We might struggle to sell to a Russian Club, if sanctions are introduced.
