The fact he's never been even close to signing a new deal, having joined on quote modest terms for a player of his stature suggests he's wanted to assess him options/move on for quite some time. It's always been an odd one. From what I've read Soyuncu has never liked grasping the language gap nor the country itself. Probably why there were rumours of him moving to Spain this summer. He had an insane second season but since then it seems to me that his confidence is shaky within every game whether noticeable or not that he plays. He doesn't like left CB and he seems intimidated when playing next to Evans (just my opinion)

I had such high hopes for him. He either over achieved, has lost confidence or doesn’t want to be here. Whatever the reason. We can’t afford to keep playing him or afford his wages to sit on the bench. Sadly, he has to go.
Ric Flair Posted 21 May 2022 Posted 21 May 2022 He's well worth £20-25m for many clubs and he'll probably only command a mild pay rise from us which as it stands is only around 50k a week so he'll be hugely popular from clubs who have cash but can't pay the wages usually seen in our country. We ought to be able to get a replacement for a similar amount.
FOXSE Posted 21 May 2022 Posted 21 May 2022 I don't think Ünder being sacked off helped. But also, was he ever really the same once he changed his hair??

I can’t imagine the treatment of Under had anything to do with it, unfortunately he’s always been a liability just somehow he managed to hold it together for a solid season to convince some otherwise.
Collymore Posted 21 May 2022 Posted 21 May 2022 It could be settling in the UK? As far as I can tell he his English hasn't improved that much in his time. Perhaps he just wants out of Leicester and UK...

Guest Posted 21 May 2022 Posted 21 May 2022 I'm sure I'm missing something but where has the idea that he can't play on the left of a centre back partnership come from? The first half of the 19/20 season when we were playing the best football I've ever seen from a Leicester team and Soyuncu looked totally imperious, it was him on the left and Evans on the right. 1

Evans was the stand out player that night and Soyuncu was reluctant to come away from the 18 yard box, so never looking to stop crosses from coming in.

Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 22 May 2022 Posted 22 May 2022 I blame Boris Johnson for many things but even from a huge critic of his, I think suggesting cags downturn in form is his fault is a bit of a stretch. Shame how it's petered out for him here as he looked like he'd go to the top for a while after maguire left, maybe he still will but not with us, best for all parties that he moves on and we get the best deal we can for him. 1
Foxes96 Posted 22 May 2022 Posted 22 May 2022 Didn’t even make it on the pitch today for a farewell appearance?!

The 25-year-old has a year left on contract and has been linked with Champions League finalists Real Madrid in his native Turkey. However, it is understood their city rivals Atletico are the main contenders for his signature. Atletico have followed the Turkish centre-back's progress for the past four years since he was at Freiburg. Soyuncu joined Leicester from the German side for a fee of £19million in 2018 and has since made 123 appearances for the Foxes. He has been on the bench for the last five matches under Brendan Rodgers and not completed 90 minutes since the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham on May 1, fuelling suggestions that he will be allowed to leave the club in the summer. Soyuncu, capped 45 times by Turkey, has also reportedly attracted the interest of Juventus, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United in recent weeks. Leicester are not in a strong negotiating position, however, due to Soyuncu only having a year left on his deal. 3

I think you can halve that …… the players agent will make a deal with whichever club the player wants to go to and we will have to take what we can. Of course we can keep him until his deal runs out - we don’t have to sell Last summer was the time to sell but circumstances meant we couldn’t … 1

Number 6 Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 Wait how many players do we have with a year left now!? Soyuncu, Tielemans, Vardy, Kasper and to a lesser extent Perez and Mendy. Feels like the new contracts will be as big a part of our summer as any transfers.

FoxFossil Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 (edited) Surprised not more talk of Vardy off to America with Becs, or is that another thread? Edited 23 May 2022 by FoxFossil
