Ndidi was quality today though. When he's just given the task of winning the ball and being a defensive presence, and not get involved in the build up play too much, that's where he excels.

Soumare was decent too. Both played well.

Agree they both had good halfs, Soumare defiently more composed on the ball and can carry it as well as find a pass.

Nididi great at breaking up play.

That forward run at the end of the game is something we’d see more regularly if he wasn’t playing as the holding midfielder. All round good performance though :appl:

Epitomises chaos, whether you can harness thst in our current issues and utilise it is another matter. He has his qualities as well as his basic and horrifying weaknesses.

Was it him that made the run back to tackle the Forest player who went on a run from his own half?

That was brilliant

Yeah he tracked the Johnson run and got a great tackle in when he had gone past the rest of the team.

I still don't rate Soumare unfortunately. I'm just not sure he's good enough in any role to make it his own.

In fact, as a CDM, I'd prefer Mendy: a limited player, but he's positionally good and can pass reasonably well if only safely and simply. Rodgers, however, chooses to banish him from the squad completely.

I'd like to be able to see just something that you could say is BS's one thing that he gives the team: passing, carrying the ball, tackling, recycling and keeping it simple? What is it? I haven't worked it out yet, which is why I'd have a fairly one dimensional player like NM ahead of him.

Cannot work that out at all.

Ndidi looked as if he was running in mud and unfit. He looked like the only weak link first half from the stands. The only one who wasn’t at the races.

Thought Soumare sured things up, and looked the better and more solid player. He had more to deal with second half also.

He’s not going to be the player we all want him to be. For all of his physical presence he lacks any agility / mobility. He doesn’t make up for that with his footballing brain.

Fine against lower league opposition but no chance against top 10 quality midfielders.

Soumare isn't a DM, and that is one place we are going wrong. He is a ball carrier who can switch it to attack. He was a liability tonight as DM, until Praet came on and he could swap to the Tielemans position.

I like him as a player, but not how Rodgers plays him.

If we want to utilise him as a ball carrier he needs to be playing as a RCM or LCM. Strong competition for places so probs wouldn’t start, but its the best position for him and his ball carrying skills!

Everyone writing this lad off are going to fall in love with him when he’s in the correct position and driving forward with the ball like prime Yaya!

This guy is starting to look like a really solid squad option. Against Man U at home, and again last night when he came on, he's looked good. Really hope this is the start of an upwards trajectory for him.

Because, for the Nth time, he's not a defensive midfielder. It's fine playing him there against a team that are as shit as Forest but it can't be his future. He's a ball progressor, he's at his best carrying it forward, his style of play isn't wildly different to KDH.

If the club had realised how well KDH was going to do I doubt we would have signed him in the first place.

How many of our players are having their performances judged by both supporters and the media when Rodgers has played them out of their best positions now or in the past?

Soumare, Soyuncu, Iheanacho, Daka, Perez, Ricardo, Castagne, Armarty, Ndidi to name a few.

Sometimes desperate situations demand such and a player just has to step into a roll because needs must. It is totally different however if it's merely to try and fulfil an egotistical head game. For a player to play out of position and understandably make mistakes can cause confidence issues. To have a number of players out of their best positions at one time is a recipe for poor results.

....he has had these deficiencies throughout his career, it is not going to change, he does not sense danger or reads the game to mitigate it!!!

He needs to have someone who deals with things he is poor at, taking Tielemans out of the equation and something like Wilf or Mendy as the DM and Soumare playing the role where he brings it forward, taking it under pressure.

You do not have to play like Tielemans, to play in that position.

He always looks like a car crash either happening, or just about to happen to me.

Even that run at the end he cocked up when his pants filled with the brown stuff and he didn’t know what to do.  He was lucky to get fouled.

I genuinely have no idea what game some

of you were watching.

He broke through and put the defence under that much pressure they bundled him down. Lucky to get fouled? Yeah he isn’t the quickest player in the world but what do you expect. He had no support either when he ran through. Fair play to the bloke, taking the ball forward at the end of the game and wanting to attack. How can you slate that? (Suppose some people prefer the constant sidewards passing that goes nowhere.)

This negative agenda against certain players is ridiculous. Soumare had a good game when he came on, he was certainly better than Ndidi who looked off it, behind the pace and unfit. He was the only weak link first half, hence why Rodgers subbed him. He wasn’t taken off because he was having an outstanding game, he looked terrible.

Stats can be misleading. Felt we had a massive gaping hole when he was on the pitch and Forest got in ‘between the lines’ a fair few times. A better team would have punished us.

I agree with the notion that he isn’t a DM, he just isn’t aware enough. He’s more of a box to box midfielder.
