I thought that they may have tried to have got a couple of them back in, tbf. On paper, they have a much better side now in comparison to last season, but the Premier League is ruthless and I wonder just how long it will take them all to gel.

That’s the benefit of doing business early, they’re about done and have a few weeks together

Let’s face it if Lingard reproduces his West Ham form for Forest then he’ll be a very good signing for them. He’s a good player when he’s on it.

Something tells me, however, that if he was so worth taking a punt on then he’d have a few other choices than Forest. If they were the only ones willing to match his wages then it’s a big gamble for them. It could go either way for me

Like any signing it could go either way, but we’ve got to roll the dice a bit if we want to stay up.  Cooper’s made lots of solid signings but we needed more pace and finishing power up front, and some Premier League experience to help players like Johnson keep improving.

Any of our rivals in the bottom half would be pleased with this signing I think.  A lot of journalists seem to think we should just accept relegation before the season starts rather than giving it a go and adding something to the league.

Most of us are relieved it’s a one year deal as we’d obviously be in a mess if we had someone on £80k+ a week on the books in the Championship.

Do your fans have much obsession with LCFC, particularly with being in the same league?..

10 signings is a lot but Forest have had to replace loanees they've not been able to retain like Zinkernagel, Davis and Spence.

Lingard is an excellent signing for them if he can return to the form he had at West Ham.

Actually really surprised West Ham didn't sign him.

Lingard is a great player on the break, he goes anonymous against teams who sit back against him. Not a star player you'd especially want to build your team around either, or even add that higher level experience & intelligence to the Club like we did with Cambiasso.

If they're able to play to his sstrength they'll get alot out of him, his dynamic should mix well with a couple of the lads already there too. Just hope the wage stretch forces them to overlook other areas.

He's stung us more than once too. Absolute crap here on loan, tore us up with Brighton & Leo just after we'd won The Champo, although our lads were clearly worse for wear after celebrations. Community Shield Vs Man U. And the one which still stings 19/20 when we gifted him his first goals in 2 years and Man U the Champions League spot we'd been holding onto that entire season.

I wouldn’t say so but it’s definitely a game we’re looking forward to.  Personally, Leicester, Leeds and Villa are the matches I’m looking forward to.  We’ve got long-held grudges against Spurs and Liverpool too.

Not high risk in terms of finances, more the atmosphere. If he's not performing it creates a toxic atmosphere which isn't going to help the team spirit needed for a relegation battle.

Its massively naive in my opinion and requires him to perform to a very high level for it to pay off

Not convinced hes anywhere near good enough or a big enough character to justify being paid probably 5 or 6 times more than his team mates.

This is what I think. As a potential to be a problem behind the scenes. Forest’s owner has a reputation for signing players. You can see how Lingard can work on the counter attack but like you, I question if he has the character when the chips are down

Remember when Fulham came up and spent millions on players yet still went down could Forest go the same route hope so.

Pretty similar scenario, half of the Fulham team were on loan and couldn't be retained. Shed load of replacements but didn't recreate a 'team'. Hopefully, that's how well it goes for forest.

We are not in financial trouble, there is a difference between being in trouble and being careful.

We can't enhance the squad because we've got dead wood claiming large wages.

There's a difference between being careful and profligate. Where you view that line depends on your outlook but there's a case to be made.

I'd say having Bertrand on a long contract of high wages with no real potential to play borders on financial trouble. Vestegaard too. I'd like to hear the case for that being careful.

If he was a top player he wouldn't go to Forest. If they were a big club they wouldn't be so excited.

That West Ham loan has clouded some judgement. He's alright but has become overrated.

You will be fine IMO you have youthful talent who are hungry, excellent manager,  a good home crowd and a sprinkling of quality who if injuries are kind should be mid table but this could be a tough long season for a few of the established clubs including ourselves - rarely does standing still do anything but lead to challenges !

We’re not standing still, this is a ridiculous claim. Anyone who is making any concrete predictions about Forest is daft. Nobody actually knows what will happen with them given that they’ve had to rebuild their squad. We know they have good young defenders but aside from that they are a complete unknown quantity. If they can’t score goals as the forest poster says, they will struggle badly.

Aside from Forest's signings are looking better.

Henderson is a good goalkeeper and Lingaard can be hit and miss but has the potential to get his form back.

Agreed it’s unknown but it’s not daft to have an opinion it’s actually my right mind it is yours - time will tell if I am correct but I think they will be fine.

in terms of us currently we have stood still or arguably gone backwards despite players returning because we have a manger making rumblings - we will see how the window ends but the start to the season will be key. I think your wrong on whether we have moved forward but it is opinions !!

Lingaard to Florist is actually a ‘makes sense’ deal for both parties. West Ham wouldn’t have paid him what Florist are, and with the one year deal, they can cut their ties with him if he makes no impact for them this season. Let’s be honest, he’s not that good a player. He’s not a match winner on his own and I generally think he didn’t get many offers from other Prem teams. If he was so wanted, why did no one go for him in January.

Good post though am surprised he did not go back to West Ham.  He was good for them when he was on loan.

West Ham tried to get him back in Jan, as I recall, but Man U said no. And fairly sure it's been reported West Ham were trying again this window, but not offering as high wage deal as Forest have.
