Psychological issues?

I've said this, we know he can make saves, as we've seen him have good games in cup games, but when it matters, he went to pieces, think Rodgers ruined him

If this is genuine and he was asking to be dropped, why has he not been dismissed?

Not a chance we can just dismiss him for asking to be dropped.

He knows he isn't good enough. Nothing to do with psychology. Nothing to do with training. I've occasionally seen clips of a GK drill and he's suspect in them. Spills and net bulges galore - presumably those the edited HIGHLIGHTS too!

It's written all over his body language. Particularly noticeable Newcastle game at half time but was evident from second game of the season under Rodgers. Imposter syndrome of the highest order. It's tragic in a way. For us and for him (multimillions aside). Deep down it must be a very lonely place knowing you are a charlatan.

Don't think Rodgers ever felt lonely with it. A professional charlatan takes it in his stride and blames others 😁.

I got a feeling Danny Ward is never going to leave the club, he is going to be the new Birch end up as the ambassador doing charity runs in 30 years time!

Liverpool got a the last laugh in this.  Seriously can't understand why we would pay over 10 million for a backup goalkeeper at that time.  Could have got someone younger and up and coming or a senior goalkeeper with experience for much less.

There's loads of things wrong with Ward including not setting himself correctly for shots, no game awareness, movement of feet etc

I played goalkeeper to a reasonable standard and I can't believe how inept he is technically and how he's managed to get so far in the game.

It is truly baffling

He is totally untouchable as the worst goalkeeper we've had in my 50 years of supporting us and I'm struggling to think of a worse overall player.

He reminds me of the fat bloke in the Shawshank Redemption who starts crying on his first night in the cells and gets filled in by the guards for it and then dies.

That is the most obscure reference I have ever seen about a footballer! Congratulations, sir! (I am old enough to have seen it in the cinema...)

I'd like to know who scouted him and recommended him to us. What did they see that made them think he's worth £10m and £50k a week? Another example of why we are in the mess we are.

Leicester fans were mean to him, so you'd think there'd be a club out there ready to take advantage of this situation, and pick him up on a free.

There he sits on his huge wage soaking it up, not playing for us or anyone else, not even a loan.

Again, utterly terrible management.

No club in their right mind is paying him the £40,000 a week he's on here. Why on earth would he entertain offers to leave?

Exactly my point.

But it's those nasty supporters😢

Has Ward managed to avoid the 'Sisters'?

I genuinely think he'll retire in the summer. No one is taking him.

He's good enough for league one I would say.

Ward's less mobile

I suspect away from the spotlight he will be a perfectly competent goalkeeper. He clearly doesn't have the mental strength for the top level. I suspect he pulls off worldies in training, but freezes under pressure.
