Vardy v Rooney

It is indeed, however the remand system is also important where the prosecution demonstrates that bail is a significant risk.

Certainly.

My argument is against the presumption of guilt in general terms, which is how this whole line of debate first came about.

Shes been ordered to pay the thick end of £1m legal fees to Coleen - class lol

Astonishing waste of time and money. Two entitled girls having a "she said" "no she said" argument. The WAG equivalent of a 2am fight outside a 'Spoons.

One hope is Vardy needs a good few quid now and needs the goal bonus money.

And the supporters that pay for their tickets,

Well yes, but as a proportion of the income the club generate its very small. Either way I'm glad she has to pay it, shes a disgrace. She has also had to pay her own legal fees which I suspect were not fatr off a million quid. She's ruined JV retirement and suspect he won't be as financially secure as once was

Good, might give him the motivation to prolong his career then.

All-star cast confirmed for Channel 4's high-stakes Wagatha Christie drama

An all-star cast has been confirmed for Channel 4’s dramatic retelling of the Wagatha Christie case, with a BAFTA winner and a Harry Potter star facing off as the embittered footballers’ wives. The explosive drama will be based on the real court transcripts that gripped the nation earlier this year.

Entitled ‘Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama’, the Channel 4 series will see BAFTA-winning This Is England actor Chanel Cresswell star as Coleen Rooney - a piece of casting previously predicted by LeicestershireLive. Meanwhile, Natalia Tena, best known as Nymphadora Tonks in the Harry Potter films, will take on the part of Rebekah Vardy.

The highly-anticipated drama will recreate the High Court defamation case that followed Coleen’s “sting operation” to uncover who was behind the leaking of personal information to the press. Rebekah always denied this was her, but lost out in the courts.

The prestige casting does not stop there, with Channel 4 confirming that multi-award winning actor Michael Sheen will take on the role of Mrs Rooney’s barrister David Sherborne. Michael is best known for a series of true-life roles, including that of former prime minister Tony Blair, football legend Brian Clough and journalist David Frost.

Meanwhile, Mrs Vardy’s legal representative, Hugh Tomlinson, will be portrayed by Simon Coury. He is best known for roles in ITV’s Emmerdale and the 2019 film, The Professor And The Madman, where he starred alongside Mel Gibson and Sean Penn.

The two-part drama will also see the WAGs' respective husbands portrayed on screen. Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney will be played by Dion Lloyd

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will be portrayed by Marci Nagyszokolyai.

In May, High Court judge Mrs Justice Steyn ruled in favour of Mrs Rooney, saying Coleen’s claims that Rebekah was the source of the leaks was “substantially true”. Last week, Rebekah was ordered to pay £1.5 million towards Coleen’s legal fees following the defeat.

The dramatic retelling will also see the effects the high profile trial had on both Coleen and Rebekah, with the scrutiny of daily press speculation and analysis on both sides doing its best to rip their lives apart. The show will also explore the social media phenomenon the trial became, with the Wagatha title coined due to Mrs Rooney’s own sleuthing after the series of stories were leaked to The Sun newspaper.

Alf Lawrie, Channel 4’s head of factual entertainment, said: “More outlandish than a storyline from Footballers Wives, this High Court case gripped the nation. Now, using court transcripts, this factual dramatisation will allow viewers to see for themselves the courtroom drama in one of the most infamous trials of recent times, bringing to life a case that encapsulated so much about the British cultural landscape in the 21st century.”

‘Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama’ will air on Channel 4 later this year.

They'll need to be careful about how they portray Rebekah Vardy, because if there are any inaccuracies she might sue for libel.

Oh, hang on ...  ;)
