Popular Post Tielemans63 Posted 4 July 2022 Popular Post Posted 4 July 2022 Was a brilliant player when I thought we had a chance of signing him but he's defo declined massively since agreeing to join Man U. Dodged a bullet there. 10
Bazly Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 I doubt we would have matched either the wages or even less likely a three year contract. With his health scare that's a big risk by Manure but they can afford to waste money. Waste lots of money, they have done that a lot recently.

They ARE a prestigious club with. Rich history and he’ll get to play in front of 70,000 fans every home game. Where else can he do that in England? It also feels like they are shifting some old players out and could be giving it a push for 3rd- 4th this season. I like their new manager. plus it’s likely to be his last major contract so can’t blame him really. So you're saying that there's a chance.
Nalis Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 Eriksen scored 4 goals away to Ireland in a crucial qualifier. Just saying....

CrispinLA in Texas Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 Goodbye my sweet Danish prince 😥, it was nice reading about how you could have helped our team out on this forum for acouple of months... good luck at ManU....another one to tick off Brendan's notepad 😏

Leicester_Loyal Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 I doubt United gave him that, but I bet it wasn't far off. As soon as United were seriously interested, he was never coming here or staying at Brentford.
Dahnsouff Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 Is that true? Blimey. No chance for us, well in Man Utd, you pimped up Everton.

I can't see anyone paying him a signing on fee, and although I ManU might be dumb enough to pay him 200k, no one else is. I hate to say it, but Eriksen is a punt for any team. It will be a pain in the behind insuring him (His family's lawyers: "He had a heart attack during a game. Did you have any indication something like this might happen?" Cub: " Weil, it happened before, and he can't even play in some countries because of his condition."); in any case, a doctor might at any point say: Yeah, he can't play again; and he is 30 years old, and was on a downward slope even before his health crisis. 1
hackneyfox Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 Exactly, you only have to offer a signing on fee and/or huge salary if it's a player with loads of rich teams after them. The idea that you automatically pay a signing on fee because someone is on a 'free' seems ludicrous to me, you offer just enough to get them to sign, if there is no competition then they can take it or walk away.

It doesn't actually happen that often, does it? I mean, there have been a few cases where I can think of a player getting a huge signing on fee, but the fact of the matter is, if it were something that happened more often than not, most better-than-average players would just run down their contracts. 1
Jobyfox Posted 4 July 2022 Posted 4 July 2022 And this thread is still open, why? Just to depress me?

It'll be happening less and less as most clubs now have to massively reduce their spending on salaries.
