Too old for our model. Will probably have health issues. Will definitely flop at Utd. Commands far too much of our wage bill. We’ve definitely dodged a bullet there!

👀

Bitter much..

I doubt we would have matched either the wages or even less likely a three year contract. With his health scare that's a big risk by Manure but they can afford to waste money. Waste lots of money, they have done that a lot recently.

People have to be kidding themselves if they Think Man United have no pulling power over us.

they may have had a dodgy few years but they still finished above us. They ARE a prestigious club with. Rich history and he’ll get to play in front of 70,000 fans every home game. Where else can he do that  in England? It also feels like they are shifting some old players out and could be giving it a push for 3rd- 4th this season. I like their new manager.

plus it’s likely to be his last major contract so can’t blame him really.

So you're saying that there's a chance.

too old and he needs a hair transplant

I suppose after nearly dying, he probably doesn’t look in the mirror and worry about his hair

Seemingly Palace appear to have more pulling power than us let alone Trad Bricks.

HA! HA! HA! If that were the case, there would have been no rumors about him considering us or Brentford. I can't see anyone paying him a signing on fee, and although I ManU might be dumb enough to pay him 200k, no one else is. I hate to say it, but Eriksen is a punt for any team. It will be a pain in the behind insuring him (His family's lawyers: "He had a heart attack during a game. Did you have any indication something like this might happen?" Cub: " Weil, it happened before, and he can't even play in some countries because of his condition."); in any case, a doctor might at any point say: Yeah, he can't play again; and he is 30 years old, and was on a downward slope even before his health crisis.

Exactly, you only have to offer a signing on fee and/or huge salary if it's a player with loads of rich teams after them.

The idea that you automatically pay a signing on fee because someone is on a 'free' seems ludicrous to me, you offer just enough to get them to sign, if there is no competition then they can take it or walk away.

It doesn't actually happen that often, does it? I mean, there have been a few cases where I can think of a player getting a huge signing on fee, but the fact of the matter is, if it were something that happened more often than not, most better-than-average players would just run down their contracts.

Just to depress me?

I think that's the reason for the whole transfer section of foxtalk.

Hope, followed by realisation, followed by depressed

It'll be happening less and less as most clubs now have to massively reduce their spending on salaries.
