Plus MLB doesn't have any type of FFP does it? When they're unable to get rid of the one or two that inevitably flop or have long term injury problems, and they're being sanctioned the most heavily for breaching FFP, it might not feel like it was such a good strategy.

I think some of these transfer fees for players who've never played in England or a top 6 European league are ridiculous too. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I really just don't get it.

You have your salary cap in the MLB of course. But there are ways and means to cut players far easier than football.

Fundamentally you don’t build a team by just throwing a lot of players together and ignoring the big issues of a central defender and a central striker

Does it? I didn't think MLB had one?

It won't be news to anyone but the pull of money over here is so apparent in this window with some really good players leaving to join some right old rubbish teams here.

Keylor Navas at Forest case and point.

It has a variation called Luxury Tax - you could argue it has one big similarity with FFP that it rewards larger clubs over smaller

Forest have done more deals in the last hour than we’ve done in 31 days. Says it all….

All it really says is that their owner has a serious footballer hoarding disorder.

It says that Forest have been signing players at the rate of about three per hour for the last two windows, and now they’ve got a squad that’s about the same size as their average attendance.

Moshiri has ran off with the £40m for Gordon and hung Dyche out to dry already.

Dyche doesn’t like many pound notes

Surprised more fringe players haven't left Chelsea - was expecting loan deals for quite a few of them.

You are only allowed 8 international loans out per season. Next season it gets reduced to 6.

That was why Doherty had to have his contract cancelled. Spurs couldn't make another outgoing loan deal as they were already at 8.

Didn’t know that but was thinking more about domestic loans. Knew they wouldn’t deal with Newcastle despite all the links but surprised more moves didn’t happen.

To be clear, there is no salary cap in MLB.  There’s a “luxury tax” - teams above it have to pay a percentage of any additional salary above the tax line in penalties, plus various other disincentives (draft pick forfeiture, international signing limits, etc.) which get more punitive for repeat offenders.

Does it function like a salary cap?  To an extent, and that’s how it was designed - MLB owners routinely collude and engage in practices which they only get away with because they have an anti-trust exemption no other major sport in the U.S. does.  They’re a despicable group.  But there are always a few owners who just flaunt the tax and go crazy (Steve Cohen of the Mets is the current poster boy).

Chelsea must have some decisions to make on their 25 man squad, there must be some senior pro’s sitting out the rest of the season now? Should let Ant & Dec make the announcements…”Loftus-Cheek……..you’re going home”

90% of the ***** they signed are U21 so they don't have to bother registering them this season.

They can only take 3 of their dozen signings on UCL trips though
