Leicester City are interested in signing Monaco winger Sofiane Diop during the upcoming transfer window.

Diop scored nine times and registered seven assists in the recently-concluded season and is on the radar of several clubs in Europe.

The winger still has four years left on the new contract he signed with Monaco last year, but there is a real threat of the club losing him.

Borussia Dortmund are amongst the clubs who have been keeping tabs on him with a view to taking him to the Westfalenstadion.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Leicester also have an interest in getting their hands on the player.

Brendan Rodgers is looking to carry out extensive surgery on his squad following a disappointing season for Leicester.

The Leicester boss wants to bring in more creativity to the squad and Diop is a player he likes.

The winger can play across a variety of positions in the final third and Leicester like his versatility.

Diop will be studying the offers to leave but is yet to take a call on whether he wants to move on from Monaco this summer.

Not sure we need another right footed left winger.

The Rodgers mantra is "never buy a player in a position of need when you can buy a different player and play him out of position".

Two things:

1) there is no way Diop would be available for just £20m

2) he's mainly a left winger, we surely aren't going to make the same mistake again?

1. Agree.

2. Why the hell not?  We've done it pretty much every year since Mahrez left.

It's what we do isn't it and then bemoan the issues of consistency down the right hand side. I wouldn't mind if we st least recruited actual right wingers in the academy and developed them to come through bit we don't do that either. They've quickly turned Popov in to a striker (correct choice I think)
