But they f**cking love it, or at least that was the impression I got when I lived there. They'd rather be poor for decades and still maintain the opportunity to get rich and live the American dream, rather than be middling forever, and knowing you'll be middling forever. Hence Trump etc. There are so many quotes like this, from the bloke who put together the WWE/UFC merger:

And the worst thing is that for 99.999% of those who attempt it, that whole dream is a lie and they die either the same or worse off than they were before.

 

I have to give those who purport it props for their magnificent marketing and getting so many people to buy into it, though.

And within. There are huge tracts of appalling levels of urban depravation in practically every major American city. Have you visited Philadelphia? 23% are living in abject poverty. And it's not simply areas such as Fairhill, some of the streets downtown resemble the gameplay of Fallout IV.

It's just an everyday occurance now, there is no shock value to it anymore. If these Americans are dumb enough not to have any gun controls and just accept mass shootings as a part of everyday life then that is their folly. They should stop preaching to the rest of the world until they get their own country in order.

The US is pretty much a list of all the things we want to continue to avoid in Europe. Paid healthcare, food which wouldn't pass our consumption laws and is banned here, the death penalty, this completely insane insistence on carrying weapons so they can continue to kill each other, ludicrously outdated abortion laws, it goes on and on...

There was another in between this latest and the last 1 mentioned on here with a bank worker in Louisville killing 5 and injuring 9 of his Co workers so with these 2 that’s 162 mass shootings this year according to gun violence archive.

162 mass shootings in 106 days !! 😔
