7 players out on loan, and only 1 of them starting.

Young and Eppiah have yet to even make their squads in the league and only Nelson has started more than once in the league bar Hamza.

I can understand it with Young because they only get 5 subs so they don't bother with a keeper on the bench

Eppiah hasn't been fit enough to be in the squad and now has food poisoning

Nelson looks to be the one chosen to miss out after Rochdale have gone to 4 at the back with the new manager

Nelson not playing is ridiculous. He's done well when he's played. I know they've had a change of manager but they supposedly put loads of effort into getting him and you'd like to think there would be assurances about getting him playing time.

Cannot help but think we are suffering without Guy Branston helping to find suitable clubs. Cannot believe Rodgers made such a song and dance about Stolarczyk had a great club lined up for him to play and aid his development and yet he's being used as their back up keeper 😂

Why on earth we've loaned Nelson to the worst team in professional English football as well. Sums us up right now.

I agree, but if no one else is interested what do you do?

Club can't win with you though really with regards to loaning players out, you batter them for not doing so and are still battering them for doing just that. All it highlights is it's actually not as simple as many on here think to find the right club to help develop them but also give them adequate game time to make it worthwhile.

True and maybe its an indication these youngsters aren't as good as we think they might be, which if so begs the question at what point we will see an improvement in the calibre of academy players we bring through. We ought to have been the go to club in the last 7-8 years in the Midlands and yet with all pur success and the investment in world class facilities it remains to be seen if we have made any attempt to improve the level of coaches or coaching here.

Our reputation as an academy still remains very low key, if other PL clubs had x 3 U18 England players in it, 1 of which the captain, they'd find it easier to get loans for them in League One and Two and they'd be playing regularly.

You are aware that there's a medium between not loaning out players and potentially stunting their development and just loaning them to anyone where they don't play and it's a waste?

A serious club should be constantly sounding out interested clubs, trying to find one that fits both the player and the club, whilst trying to ensure the player has the best opportunity to play regularly - whether that be a verbal or contractual agreement.

What we seem to be doing though obviously all I'm saying is conjecture, is loaning out players to clubs who don't consider them first choice players and not making an effort to ensure they actually get gametime. Based on Callum Wright last season, we don't even seem to have someone keeping tabs on the loanees and even talking to them whilst they're out on loan.

Sure, you can saying depends on clubs actually being interested, and it's not a hard science but most other Prem clubs easily manage to get decent loans for players - we've had a few in Luton and Cheltenham recently but that's the exception rather than the norm.

It's just yet another facet of the club which seems to have very little planning or thought going into it currently.

We’re bad at recruiting staff - no HoA, no loan manager for however long combined.

Another sign Rudkin isn’t up to it.

Oh I'm fully aware there should be a middle ground, just pointing out that it's probably actually a lot harder than it seems.

Giving them first team minutes either as a late sub or in the cups would help no end putting them in the shop window.

The best young players won't sign for us if we don't have a good track record of getting them to the first team.

surely before you loan out a keeper especially you make damn sure they will be starting at least as soon as they get there then its up to them to keep the place?

I have said that for a long time, Thomas, Barnes, Choudury and KDH  are local lads and that drew them to us. Only Chikwell was not from Leicestershire. We do not attract out of area young players. To be honest with our apparent desperate lack of money if we do not do something about the academy we are well and truly up shit creek.

Wonder if that result opens up a chance for Young to start their next game?
