MarriedaLeicesterGirl Posted 12 August 2022 Posted 12 August 2022 I found Brendan's reply on naming a vice-captain interesting: “Yeah, we’ve discussed that. It’s still in the process. It’s with the players and with the staff. Getting a new leader of the team was important. We have some fantastic senior professionals like Marc and Jamie. Within in a couple of days we will have that organised.” I think the natural choice would always be Tielemans, who was usually next in line for the armband, but even if he stays, I doubt he'd get it unless he signs a new contract. Vardy was fourth in the pecking order last year: I don't know if this means he moves up the ladder, or we find out there is a reason he was fourth in the pecking order. Albrighton would be an odd choice, since I doubt he will get that much playing time. My money is on Maddison, unless he was actually trying to push through a Newcastle move.
LVFox Posted 12 August 2022 Posted 12 August 2022 Maddison for VC. Vardy is the same bloke regardless of senior titles. Think it would be a great boost to Madders, really set our stall out as a place of trust for his type of player too. 1
taupe Posted 12 August 2022 Posted 12 August 2022 I'd want Madders concentrating on his own game rather than distracted by captain's duties. He's an important player for us and I think we need him to be in his zone mentally. 1
RowlattsFox Posted 12 August 2022 Posted 12 August 2022 I think Dewsbury-Hall is the next most natural leader alongside Tielemans. But maybe too soon for him and obviously Tielemans will only get it if he signs an extension. I'm not sure it's particularly important though.
Lesta2014 Posted 12 August 2022 Posted 12 August 2022 Castagne? Very honest in interviews, could be something we need to help drive us forward? 1

Tielemans has always been behind Vardy and Albrighton in the captaincy pecking order believe. Albrighton has often captained us in cup ties where we don’t play our first string, even when Tielemans has also played, and I think that will continue, but it seems weird giving him vice captaincy as a squad player. Ultimately I think the pecking order will stay the same it will end up being Vardy vice captain then Albrighton then Tielemans. That still means Tielemans may captain some games though.
funkyrobot Posted 13 August 2022 Posted 13 August 2022 Evans is having a poor game today. I can only imagine how many comments we’d be on if he was called Amartey!
dmayne7 Posted 20 August 2022 Posted 20 August 2022 Dreadful choice as Captain so far. They say no player goes out to not win a game but he looks like he's only bothered about not losing. He's so ponderous on the ball and half arsed. Don't see any grit or fight that you need from your captain. 3

Evans seems like a lovely bloke, but that's not we need right now. We are crying out for a true leader that will get a grip of things on field. 1
CrispinLA in Texas Posted 20 August 2022 Posted 20 August 2022 Give Maddison the Captain job.....Evans I thought was really poor in the second half today 1

trabuch Posted 21 August 2022 Posted 21 August 2022 The captain is pretty meaningless on the pitch. I'm pretty sure he doesn't get to choose the formation and substitutes.

turlo Posted 21 August 2022 Posted 21 August 2022 Read that he disagreed with Rodgers post match assessment/comments. What did he say?
Tommy Fresh Posted 21 August 2022 Posted 21 August 2022 Didn't the Radio Leicester lad tweet he'd interviewed him after the game and he disagreed with a point Rodgers had made.

Ian Nacho Posted 21 August 2022 Posted 21 August 2022 He’s an experienced individual who can support a defensive partner but I’m not so sure if he’s vocal enough to change the mentality and attitude of the entire team. 1

At least as club captain we already know that we can trust him with sourcing a taxi to escort Rodgers out of Seagrave 1
foxsake Posted 23 August 2022 Posted 23 August 2022 Brendan's Yes Man. British lads stick together eh?
David Hankey Posted 4 September 2022 Posted 4 September 2022 Somewhat surprisingly and quite amazingly he has been injured since he became captain, thank God.
