Looking at his stats alone--typically 7s in recent matches--it looks like he's improving to be amongst Watford's top players. It'll be interesting to see how far he's developed by the end of the season. It's a pity we didn't loan him out before. Playing some football matches surprisingly enough seems to have done him the world of good.

...you just have to get away from our coaches to improve!!!

He always had promise even with our coaching though, looking good in the u23s with interest from Klopp and looking the real deal when Puel put faith in him, and getting in the England setup, but then never reached those heights again with Brendan. We should be able to see the kind of player he’ll develop into now. It’s just a pity we didn’t get this chance a couple of years ago, albeit a difficult task with a disinterested manager and a solid Ndidi in the team.

...so many times he had one foot out the door,  but injuries forced us to keep hold of him, or some other last minute thing!!!

I always felt he could be a good player, he just needed to understand what his game was and work with someone who believed in him enough to give him the chance.

The action man game was never him, it was strange that it was something he became associated with.

another player you can firmly file under ‘rodgers playing to his weaknesses’ rather than strengths

bizarrely the type of player rodgers wants in that role is mendy and he doesn’t get near the side :dunno:

Agree. Rodgers is baffling to say the least.

They drill backpasses into you don’t they.

Can someone tell me if he is still backpassing without even looking up? If he doesn’t, that must have been instructed by Rodgers.

If Madders and Youri leave us, we may offer a new contract to Hamza?

?

I Are you suggesting we let Hamza be a playmaker type person?

Is there an option to buy in that loan?

Or, dare I say, could he come back an improved player?

The games I’ve watched him play on loan and including the  weekend he was nothing more than Ok . Not sure why the Watford fans are raving about him tbh

Their standards are incredibly low compared to us. Him not being Tom Cleverley and being able to move appeared to be a massive positive lol

Fans favourite at Watford. Just listening to a fan on 606. They love him. Very pleased for him.

Are they loving him for what we loved about him, apart from the hair obvs, the running around & snapping tackles or has he added to his bow & if so what?

The praise was for his tanacity, energy and drive. Said it was galvanising the rest of the team.

every time i've seen hamza for watford (3 games) he has floated on the edges of the game, not asserting himself on the midfield or bossing anything and sitting in pockets of space where he neither takes the ball of the defence nor particularly disrupts the opposition. Every now and again he charges from nowhere and hammers someone and the crowd like it. Other than that he doesn't do much. Mendy and Soumare are markedly better players, positionally and on the ball. He has athleticism but he will have to come on leaps and bounds in order to be a premier league player of any quality.

Exactly how I’ve seen him play

I think he will always do well in any championship side as he has got a great engine on him and covers ground well.

He struggles when your asking him to keep possession against sides that play with a high intensity.

You can give the ball away in the league below and 8 times out of 10 you will not get punished. In the Premier league it's the opposite way around.
