His athleticism alone will allow him to handle the defensive side at this level.  He looked completely comfortable defending 1 v 1.

We'll see how it goes with his reading of the game, ball control and passing ...

Good first showing IMO.

Everyone’s suddenly a tactics and positioning expert when it comes time to slate Hamza on here. He’s a good footballer.

He’s never not been a good footballer. He’s good at what he does, and will suit the championship well.

He’s Junior Lewis on crack to a lot of folks on here.

Same old then. Wouldn’t stand out in League 2.

Yes he has no qualities, he wouldn’t stand out in park football, just not that sort of player.

HAHA!

Hamza contributed well when he played for us.    Rodgers clearly did not rate him; a manager has to make decisions.

I like Hamza.  I hope he builds on  yesterday and has a great season.

Was it eighteen months ago that people were suggesting he could do a job for England?

I heard it was £75k per week

I think his wage is the thing that so many have latched onto on here as a stick to beat him with.  Like Praet, his wage wouldn't be an issue if he were played more regularly in the side.

Why he hasn't featured more is a matter of opinion.  I think that he has acquitted himself reasonably well when he has been pitched on, considering that he's played so rarel.  It must be hard to get up to speed and gel with the team in such circumstances, and doubly so when you feel you haven't got the confidence of the manager behind you.

I thought he had 2 absolutely class outings as centre back for us last season, it's always puzzled me why they stopped using him when he did so well.

Its kind of exciting following Hamza getting regular game time at what I hope and expect to be at the top end of the Championship. He never really got a proper chance at it here and we all just assume, that he is not quite good enough.

Did we give Hamza a 1 Yr extension because I thought he was out of contract in the summer?

Yes, with a view to sell him on at a profit, if he has a good season in the championship.

Early days but more performances like that is exactly why putting that extension on his deal before the loan made sense. Gives us some potential upside rather than guaranteed losing him for nothing in the summer.

Go on Hamza, keep it up son!
