Danny Ward in a parallel Universe - beam him off someone

Just looked up the player stats for one Danny Ward, fantastic - 6 games and no goals.

Ward has made 29 saves and picked the ball out of the net 21 times. The divisions top keepers make 3 goal bound saves for every goal conceded. Its not just the defence that is shit. Ward should have saved at least 9 of the shots that ended up as goals conceded to be a bang average keeper.

I'm still convinced this is just a random guy who's fraudulently got himself a professional contract.

It will all get sussed out eventually and we'll all laugh about it when we tell our grand children.

A lot depends on the shots themselves - the defence in front of him is shocking, allowing attackers to pick their shots, which makes it harder for Ward.  I think once the defenders get used to him that will help.

Well he seems to do OK for Wales, so he already lives in a parallel universe with one defence in front of him drilled to know how to defend.  The other defence is like a utensil I use to drain my peas & carrots.

A small sample size in terms of the number of games, a poor defence in front of him thar keeps changing shape and personnel and having midfielders chucked in there, the entire team lacking confidence, a disinterested manager who has been dissing the players in public for months, and he's replacing a club legend between the sticks. All mitigating circumstances.

I agree, he's looked shaky and Iversen probably deserves a chance, especially as he's had more experience as a regular number 1 playing week in, week out. Proper competition for places should inspire both players. But Ward plays for Wales and has played well. Heck, he's even played well for Leicester before. He's in a tough moment but he's probably not as bad as many of us think.

Sorry but I think he is.

His doesn't install any confidence. His one positive is that he comes for crosses but even then he dropped one at Arsenal just as we got back into the game.

His positioning is terrible. It makes it look like he's not got a chance with some of the goals (particularly the few he's conceded from close range into the far corner where he's stood overprotecting his near post) but the reality is that he should be in a better positon.

Don't get me started on his communication.

He really isn't good enough. Would far rather give Iversen a chance even if he's just as bad - at least he has more time to develop.

Absolutely nothing in his career to suggest he's a Championship goalkeeper, let alone a Premier League one.

Our 2nd and 3rd choice keepers, are better and more experienced than him. Smithies should be starting ahead of him, let alone Iverson.

He's only had 80 odd league games in his entire career and 43 of them were for Huddersfield in one season 6 years ago. He's just tragically inexperienced. Inexperience caused by us not playing him, he's been Kaspers successor since he signed, so why he hasn't been out on loan getting ready? This is probably Brendons fault as well.

Laughable, really

And we paid 12 million for him. Nearly enough to pay Rodgers off.

In today’s money, probably more like £25m
