He has been a dick head for so long now. Years.

He’s made the team worse for a similar amount of time.

He’d have to become both a) a likeable man & b) a better coach in order for him to turn it around for me.

I've seen so much nonsense in this thread, mainly about "first he needs to accept blame" type comments. Utter twaddle!

This is purely hypothetical, but if he got us playing like Real Madrid or Man City, you wouldn't give a rat's ass if he was some pompous self-aggrandising git or the humblest of club servants.

It's not just the results. He comes over as a disingenuous, snidey little weasel who would throw anyone under the bus for his own means. Very difficult to like someone likes that. I wonder what his players think of him despite the usual outward media support 🤔

If we start winning games then of course he'll win me over, there's nothing funny in that.

I still respect Rodgers for what he's won here, I'm never changing that, but do I think he needs to go currently? Yes. Does that mean he can't make me change that opinion? No.

Every football fan in the World is fickle. If you don't understand that then what's the point posting on here.

Yes but a lot of us on here have no doubt he will get us relegated if he's allowed to continue. That's not being fickle that's being realistic.

He's trying to and I would and do.

Awful nonsense style, boring as ****.

Infact, its arguably most people's problems with him - certainly where they stem from.

I don't hate the guy and from all good accounts he is a great coach, but he has a massive job on his hands to turn this all around. IF he can get us back to playing how we were at the start of his tenure then yes, he will win me back.

However there are so many things though he has to sort and i can't honestly see him being able too, but heres to hope.

I figured there wouldn’t be a lot of support for this.

In my head to even make me rethink his position it’s got to be:

- full public apology to club and fans for comments

- admission of his errors in both tactics, selections and comments

- drop the ego and the “better than thou” attitude

- drastic rethink in playing style (adapt/evolve/drop this current possession based football)

- resolve player unrest and instil confidence back in the team.

- upturn in results (decent run of wins or positive results)

Maybe then it would get me thinking could he be forgiven and afforded more time. Do I think he can do it? Probably not

I think the first three are asking way too much. Sport is about egos and belief in your own ability. This whole hand wringing apology tweets after every game are just embarrassing.

The second three should be enough to win anyone round. As much as Rodgers is at fault for the performances and attitudes he's not alone. The players and owners need to take their share of the responsibility.

If Rodgers can turn this around and salvage this season then that would be a greater achievement than finishing fifth and any tinpot Scottish trophy he won.

All of his recent comments indicate to me that he knows he's made mistakes. Just needs to get the players at 100% effort and stop playing tippy tappy football and I'd welcome him to stay longer.

What you call tippy tappy is Brendans football philosophy. Are we expecting Brendan to put that to one side to save this job?, or does he stick with his vision of how he thinks the game should be played? The thing is, the really good period we had was Brendan transitioning the side to his style, it just clicked and worked because the team still knew how to go direct when needed. That has now been coached out of them, and he doesn't have the skills to bring it back. Someone else would have to do it, and its not as simple as him just saying 'do what you were doing in 2019'.

As i see it there are just too many issues.

  • The style is wrong and outdated. Brendan can't adapt, and arguably his has not been able to make his style work long term at any club he has managed.
  • Mentality is all shot, everywhere. This has to be coming from the manager. The more i read about Brendan, the more he actually scares me. Reports of a bullying style (Sterling and recently Barnes). Do we have someone who not only can't motivate, but ends up doing the opposite. Is this what happened with Cags?
  • Defense. Kolo is his appointment yet seems to be beyond any criticism for our frailties. Our style puts far too much pressure on the defense anyhow, but is Kolo completely out of his depth now, but remains as he is a Brendan yes man.
  • Brendan's attitude is a disgrace. Thankfully pundits have picked up on it, but it very much feels there is a toxic leader in there right now. Brendan seems pi**ed of we have a new coach joining the team, rather than excited about what it could fix.

There is more, but he is not going to fix them because he doesn't have the self awareness to understand he is the problem, and his style and approach has put us where we are.

I would love to know what has actually gone on behind the scenes this last week. ITK posters hinting wheels in motion, so at Seagrave this week everyone would have known what was going on. The board now have a mini break where they can be bold and strong. Do they have the guts to do it, or are they happy for us to stay in 1 point until November?
