The electricity price cap goes up on Tuesday so bills will increase by about 10%

Winter duvets on, blankets at the ready.

Mine went on today, very old house (bottom part built in 1708) and can get really cold. For me the time is right when no matter how many clothes you have on, my bloody nose gets cold as the air is bloody freezing. No shit it was warmer outside than in my front lounge Lol.

Ian Wright's £2,000 'bouncy castle' coat! Football legend is likened to a 'zorb ball' and bubble wrap after he turned up for ITV's live broadcast in a huge Moncler-adidas winter jacket |

Currently got mine set at 19 24 hours a day due to baby but also interesting to see if it's any more expensive than having it on at certain times.

Although the mrs is on maternity for 9 months so no chance of turning it off

Remember it well - logically you think it will be cheaper when your mrs is on maternity leave, it is for a few weeks but once they start doing more - meeting up with friends, baby classes etc combined with maternity pay it's a financial drag. Good luck and hope you are getting some sleep

On a side note, did anyone see the Tory Party Broadcast last night, specially about the Winter Fuel Allowance? Lots of pensioners complaining about it, but not one of them looked like they'd struggle without it.

I'm not in anyway saying that there aren't pensioners who would struggle, but this lot were very much suburban Middle England.

Todays Pensioners are literally the wealthiest generation to ever live - I see absolutely no reasons why they should get given money WITHOUT means testing. Nobody else gets given money without means testing including the very poorest in society, so it makes perfect sense to me to at least means test the wealthiest generation before giving them hand-outs. Fact is 85% of over 65's vote Tory, so it was always going to cause a storm.

Absolutely. They've kinda earned it because they vote in such huge numbers but also c'mon. Like you said the wealthiest generation to ever live, mainly built up due to unearned wealth, and that record will presumably carry on for a few generations.

Put a fire on 3 times and it was hotter than the sun.Reached 25c

Built a house 3 years ago so well insulated, but my office/bedsit/man room was a bit chilly the other morning and was working from home so slapped the underfloor heating on for an hour .

Luckily,I can isolate each room so shouldn’t eat into the overdraft!!

Mrs. FFF and our heating is a strange relationship to fathom.

Colder evenings in late August and well into September, the thought process is; it's too early to have the heating on.

Then into October and onwards, it's often on, even on mild days.

I've just walked into the house and it's like a bloody furnace. By no stretch is it cold today.

To summarise:

Aug/Sept: Heating off, no matter if cold.

Oct/Nov: Heating on, no matter if mild.

I can relate to this. An all to familiar story for our household.

Need to man up and take control of that thermostat.
